Suomalainen koulutusj\u00e4rjestelm\u00e4 ja valtakunnallinen opetussuunnitelma korostavat kommunikaatiotaitoja ja merkityksen v\u00e4litt\u00e4mist\u00e4 osana kieltenopiskelua (ks. esim.\nNCCHS, 2019: 181; NCCBE, 2014: 220). Lis\u00e4ksi maailmalla kasvaa ajatus aksentin vapauttamisesta (ks.\nesim. Tsang, 2019), jolloin Englantia voitaisiin puhua jokainen omalla aksentillaan. Se, onko englannin\nopettajilla samanlaiset mahdollisuudet valita oma aksenttinsa tai \u00e4\u00e4nt\u00e4mismallinsa kuin opiskelijoilla, on\nt\u00e4ten ajankohtainen kysymys.\n\nAiempi tutkimus on puutteellista, sill\u00e4 tutkimusta aiheesta on t\u00e4ll\u00e4 hetkell\u00e4 vain Aasiasta (ks. esim.\nTsang, 2020, 2019). Opiskelijoiden asenteita opettajien suullista kielitaitoa, esimerkiksi aksenttia ja \u00e4\u00e4nt\u00e4myst\u00e4, kohtaan on tutkittu (ks. esim. Ilola, 2018; Vaarala, 2013). Sen sijaan n\u00e4iden osa-alueiden vaikutusta\nauktoriteettiin tai ammattitaitoon ei ole juurikaan tutkittu. Siksi t\u00e4m\u00e4 tutkimus pyrkii ymm\u00e4rt\u00e4m\u00e4\u00e4n lukio-opiskelijoiden n\u00e4kemyksi\u00e4 aiheesta. Tutkimuksen keski\u00f6ss\u00e4 ovat lukio-opintoja tutkimushetkell\u00e4 suorittavat opiskelijat (n=183) Keski-Suomen alueelta. Tutkimus toteutettiin suomenkielisen\u00e4 Webropol-kyselyn\u00e4, ja se sis\u00e4lsi sek\u00e4 laadullista ett\u00e4 m\u00e4\u00e4r\u00e4llist\u00e4 dataa tuottavia kysymyksi\u00e4. M\u00e4\u00e4r\u00e4llinen data analysoitiin k\u00e4ytt\u00e4m\u00e4ll\u00e4 SPSS-tilasto-ohjelmaa ristiintaulukointiin sek\u00e4 kuvailevaa tilastoanalyysia. Laadullinen data analysoitiin hy\u00f6dynt\u00e4m\u00e4ll\u00e4 temaattista analyysi\u00e4.\n\nTutkimuksen tulokset osoittivat, ett\u00e4 lukio-opiskelijat n\u00e4kiv\u00e4t yhteyden opettajan suullisella kielitaidolla ja opettajan auktoriteetilla ja ammattitaidolla. Vaikka nykyinen kieltenopetus onkin painottanut\nmerkityksen v\u00e4litt\u00e4mist\u00e4 ja kommunikaatiotaitoja kieltenopetuksessa, opiskelijat silti tavoittelevat vahvasti natiivinkaltaista suullista kielitaitoa. Toisaalta opiskelijat eiv\u00e4t varsinaisesti vaadi natiivintasoista\nsuullista kielitaitoa opettajalta tai t\u00e4ydellisyytt\u00e4. Sen sijaan t\u00e4rkeint\u00e4 oli, ett\u00e4 opettajan suullinen kielitaito\nvastasi ty\u00f6nkuvaa eli opettaja pystyi mallintamaan kielt\u00e4 ja opettamaan mm. \u00e4\u00e4nt\u00e4m\u00e4\u00e4n oikein. Opiskelijan omalla suullisen kielitaidon tasolla oli joissakin tapauksissa vaikusta siihen, millaisia vastauksia kysymyksiin annettiin. Selke\u00e4\u00e4 eroa eri taitotasojen v\u00e4lill\u00e4 ei kuitenkaan l\u00f6ytynyt. Tutkimuksen tuloksia voidaan hy\u00f6dynt\u00e4\u00e4 muun muassa opettajankoulutuksen kehitt\u00e4miseen sek\u00e4 tuomaan esille v\u00e4hemm\u00e4n tutkittuja auktoriteettiin ja ammattitaitoon vaikuttavia tekij\u00f6it\u00e4.
