Seuranta antaisi t\u00e4rke\u00e4\u00e4 tietoa lahopuulajistosta, joista noin 300 lajia on Suomessa uhanalaisia. Seurannan toteuttaminen mahdollisimman luotettavasti on t\u00e4rke\u00e4\u00e4, sill\u00e4 seurantojen tulokset vaikuttavat esimerkiksi suojelup\u00e4\u00e4t\u00f6ksiin. Suomen metsist\u00e4 95 % on talousmets\u00e4\u00e4, joten seurantoja kannattaa kohdentaa my\u00f6s n\u00e4ille alueille suojelualueiden lis\u00e4ksi. Zonation-ohjelmalla tehdyt valtakunnalliset metsien suojeluarvoanalyysit ovat mahdollisesti hyv\u00e4 keino seurantaresurssien kohdentamiseen. Tutkimusalueita valitessa k\u00e4ytin Zonation-ohjelmalla tehdyist\u00e4 kansallisista suojeluarvoanalyyseista saatua metsien monimuotoisuusarvoa. Aineiston luotettavuudesta ei ole t\u00e4ytt\u00e4 varmuutta, ja gradussani tutkin, kuinka mets\u00e4n todelliset rakennepiirteet ja sen k\u00e4\u00e4p\u00e4lajisto vastaa alueen monimuotoisuusarvoa. Lis\u00e4ksi tutkin, kuinka erilaiset ymp\u00e4rist\u00f6muuttujat vaikuttavat alueen k\u00e4\u00e4p\u00e4yhteis\u00f6ihin. Monitoring would give important information about saproxylic species of which about 300 species are threatened. Carrying out the monitoring as reliably as possible is important, because the results of the monitoring affect, for example, conservation decisions. Majority of Finnish forests are in commersial use, so monitoring should also be targeted to these areas in addition to protected areas. Given the large extent of the managed forest cover in the landscape, there is a clear need for a protocol for targeting the monitoring effort within managed forests. The national forest conservation value analyses using Zonation software are potentially such an approach. In my thesis I studied if they can be used to allocate monitoring effort. When choosing the study sites, I used the forest biodiversity value (FBV) derived from national conservation value analyses using Zonation software. There is no certainty about the reliability of the data and I studied how the real characteristics of the forest and its polypore species correspond to the FBV of the area. In addition, I studied how different aspects of forest structure affect the polypore communities in the area. According to the results, as the FBV increased, the diversity of deadwood, the volume of living trees and the number of polypore species increased. The volume of deadwood also seemed to increase as the FBV increased, altough the result was not significant.
