Tutkimustulokset huumorin vaikutuksista t\u00e4ss\u00e4 kontekstissa ovat kuitenkin olleet ristiriitaisia, ja on todettu, ett\u00e4 huumori voi sek\u00e4 hy\u00f6dytt\u00e4\u00e4 ett\u00e4 haitata oppimista monella tavalla. Huumori on hyvin monimuotoinen ilmi\u00f6 ja sit\u00e4 voi k\u00e4ytt\u00e4\u00e4 moniin eri tarkoituksiin. N\u00e4in ollen her\u00e4\u00e4kin kysymys siit\u00e4, mink\u00e4lainen huumori olisi todenn\u00e4k\u00f6isimmin hy\u00f6dyllist\u00e4 oppimiselle ja miten opettajat voisivat k\u00e4ytt\u00e4\u00e4 t\u00e4t\u00e4 ty\u00f6kalua ryhm\u00e4ns\u00e4 oppimisen tukemiseen mahdollisimman tehokkaasti.\n\nT\u00e4m\u00e4 tutkimus tarkastelee aihetta Suomessa toimivien englanninopettajien n\u00e4k\u00f6kulmasta ja vastaa kahteen tutkimuskysymykseen siihen liittyen. Ensinn\u00e4kin tutkimus n\u00e4ytt\u00e4\u00e4, mink\u00e4laista huumoria suomalaiset englanninopettajat opetuksessaan k\u00e4ytt\u00e4v\u00e4t ja miten he perustelevat t\u00e4t\u00e4. Toiseksi se kokoaa ja tutkii heid\u00e4n n\u00e4kemyksi\u00e4\u00e4n siit\u00e4, mink\u00e4lainen huumori on kaikista hy\u00f6dyllisint\u00e4 kielenoppimista ajatellen. P\u00e4\u00e4asiallisena tiedonkeruumenetelm\u00e4n\u00e4 tutkimuksessa k\u00e4ytettiin kyselylomaketta, joka tavoitti yhteens\u00e4 59 opettajaa. Lis\u00e4ksi kaksi n\u00e4ist\u00e4 opettajista osallistui puolistrukturoituihin yksil\u00f6haastatteluihin, joilla t\u00e4ydennettiin kyselylomakkeella ker\u00e4tty\u00e4 aineistoa. P\u00e4\u00e4asiallisena analysointimenetelm\u00e4n\u00e4 tutkimuksessa k\u00e4ytettiin laadullista sis\u00e4ll\u00f6nanalyysia.\n\nTutkimustulokset viittaavat siihen, ett\u00e4 huumoria k\u00e4ytet\u00e4\u00e4n suomalaisessa kielenopetuksessa melko runsaasti ja hyvin monipuolisesti. Kyselyn perusteella viisi suosituinta tapaa sis\u00e4llytt\u00e4\u00e4 huumoria opetukseen ovat spontaanit humoristiset kommentit, oudot tai hassut esimerkkilauseet, sanaleikki, pelit ja meemit. Tutkimukseen osallistuneet opettajat perustelevat huumorin k\u00e4ytt\u00f6\u00e4 etenkin sen positiivisilla vaikutuksilla luokan ilmapiiriin, opettajan ammatissa jaksamisella, oppijoiden kiinnostuksen ja motivaation lis\u00e4\u00e4misell\u00e4, muistamisen tehostamisella sek\u00e4 paremman yhteyden luomisella oppijoihin. Oppimisen kannalta hy\u00f6dylliseen huumoriin liittyen opettajat korostavat erityisesti sit\u00e4, ett\u00e4 huumori ei saa loukata ket\u00e4\u00e4n tai j\u00e4tt\u00e4\u00e4 ulkopuolelle, ja ett\u00e4 sen tulisi liitty\u00e4 olennaisiin aiheisiin ja oppisis\u00e4lt\u00f6ihin. Lis\u00e4ksi moni mainitsee, ett\u00e4 kielellinen huumori (esimerkiksi sanaleikit, meemit ja hassut esimerkkilauseet) kiinnitt\u00e4\u00e4 huomiota kieleen, mik\u00e4 tekee siit\u00e4 tehokasta, ja usein juuri oppilailta itselt\u00e4\u00e4n l\u00e4htev\u00e4 huumori auttaa heit\u00e4 muistamaan asioita. Opettajat tuntuvat my\u00f6s olevan tietoisia huumorin mahdollisista haittavaikutuksista luokkahuonekontekstissa. Huumori voi esimerkiksi loukata, edist\u00e4\u00e4 kiusaamista tai vaikeuttaa ryhm\u00e4nhallintaa. Saadut tulokset tukevat ja t\u00e4ydent\u00e4v\u00e4t aiempaa tutkimusta.
