Tutkimuksessa pyrittiin ymm\u00e4rt\u00e4\nm\u00e4\u00e4n, mik\u00e4 merkitys sukupuolella on lasten itses\u00e4\u00e4telytaitojen kehittymisess\u00e4. \nTutkielma on osa Jyv\u00e4skyl\u00e4n yliopiston VUOKKO-pitkitt\u00e4istutkimusta (Lerk\nkanen & Salminen, 2015\u20132019). Aineisto ker\u00e4ttiin 61 eri lapsiryhmist\u00e4 havain\nnointisykleiss\u00e4 (N = 265) ja lapsien taitotestien avulla syksyll\u00e4 2018 (N = 188) ja \nkev\u00e4\u00e4ll\u00e4 2019 (N = 175). Vuorovaikutuksen laatua tarkasteltiin Classroom asses\nment scoring system Pre-K (Pianta ym., 2008) -mittarimuuunnoksen avulla. It\nses\u00e4\u00e4telytaitoja - kognition joustavuutta, inhibitiokontrollia ja ty\u00f6muistia \u2013 mi\ntattiin Head-Toes-Knees-Shoulders-mittarin (HTKS; McClelland ym., 2014) avulla. \nAnalyysimenetelmin\u00e4 k\u00e4ytettiin kuvailevia tunnuslukuja, monitasomallia ja \nlineaarista regressioanalyysia. Tutkielma osoitti, ett\u00e4 k\u00e4yt\u00f6ksen emotionaaliseen \ntuen laatu oli korkeatasoista ja oppimisen tuen laatu oli matalaa lapsiryhmiss\u00e4. \nLapsiryhmien v\u00e4liset erot itses\u00e4\u00e4telytaidoissa eiv\u00e4t johtuneet vuorovaikutuksen \nlaadusta, vaan yksil\u00f6tason tekij\u00f6ist\u00e4. Lasten aikaisempien itses\u00e4\u00e4telytaitojen ja \nsukupuolen havaittiin olevan tilastollisesti merkitsev\u00e4sti yhteydess\u00e4 my\u00f6hem\npiin itses\u00e4\u00e4telytaitoihin. Tytt\u00f6jen taidot olivat poikien taitoja hieman korkeam\npia.
