Koulukontekstissa t\u00e4h\u00e4n liittyv\u00e4t olennaisesti oppiaineiden tiedonalojen kielet, \nkoulun monikielisyys ja arvostus eri kieli\u00e4 kohtaan. Kielitietoinen toiminta yhdistet\u00e4\u00e4n usein yksinomaan \nmonikielisiin oppijoihin, erityisesti oppijoihin, joiden \u00e4idinkieli on jokin muu kuin koulussa k\u00e4ytett\u00e4v\u00e4 kieli. \nTutkimusten perusteella on kuitenkin todettu, ett\u00e4 kielitietoiset opetusmenetelm\u00e4t tukevat oppijaa \u00e4idinkielen ja \nkoulukielen suhteesta riippumatta, sill\u00e4 my\u00f6s \u00e4idinkielisill\u00e4 oppijoilla esiintyy kielellisi\u00e4 haasteita. Lis\u00e4ksi \noppiaineiden tiedonalojen kielet voidaan n\u00e4hd\u00e4 arkikielest\u00e4 eri\u00e4vin\u00e4, mik\u00e4 itsess\u00e4\u00e4n on koulun monikielisyytt\u00e4. \nOpettaja on vastuussa kielitietoisen pedagogiikan toteutumisesta koulussa. Vaikka kielitietoisuus k\u00e4sitteen\u00e4 on \nvakiintunut opetussuunnitelman tasolla, koetaan se kuitenkin usein viel\u00e4 haasteellisena ja jokseenkin abstraktina. \nSen k\u00e4yt\u00e4nn\u00f6n toteuttamiseen kaivataan viel\u00e4 lis\u00e4\u00e4 materiaalia, mink\u00e4 vuoksi valitsimme maisterintutkielmamme \naiheeksi kielitietoisen pedagogiikan ja p\u00e4\u00e4timme luoda materiaalia opettajan tueksi. \nMateriaalipakettimme toimii er\u00e4\u00e4nlaisena opettajan oppaana opetuksen kielitietoistamiseen. Siin\u00e4 on otettu \nhuomioon oppiaineiden eri tiedonalojen kielet sek\u00e4 erilaiset tilanteet, joissa kielitietoisuus voi n\u00e4ky\u00e4 k\u00e4yt\u00e4nn\u00f6n \npedagogiikassa. N\u00e4it\u00e4 ovat muun muassa opettajan ja oppilaan toiminta, opetusmateriaali sek\u00e4 oppimisymp\u00e4rist\u00f6, \njotka ovat ohjanneet materiaalimme rakentumista. Materiaali on jaettu nelj\u00e4\u00e4n oppiainekategoriaan oppiaineiden \ntiedonalojen kielten samankaltaisuuksien perusteella.
