Tutkimus suoritettiin laadullisena haastattelututkimuksena, johon osallistui kahdeksan korkeakoulun k\u00e4ynytt\u00e4 uran alkuvaiheessa olevaa Z-sukupolven edustajaa. Aineisto analysoitiin teoriaohjaavan sis\u00e4ll\u00f6nanalyysin menetelmin. \r\nTutkimuksen tulokset vahvistavat aiemman tutkimuksen ja kirjallisuuden k\u00e4sityksi\u00e4 moderneista urateorioista sek\u00e4 Z-sukupolven urak\u00e4sityksist\u00e4. Z-sukupolven edustajille on t\u00e4rke\u00e4\u00e4, ett\u00e4 ty\u00f6ura on merkityksellinen ja linjassa heid\u00e4n henkil\u00f6kohtaisten arvojensa kanssa. He painottavat ty\u00f6nantajien eettisyytt\u00e4 ja vastuullisuutta ja etsiv\u00e4t ty\u00f6lt\u00e4 syvemp\u00e4\u00e4 sis\u00e4lt\u00f6\u00e4 sek\u00e4 yhteiskunnallista vaikutusta. Lis\u00e4ksi jatkuva oppiminen ja ammatillinen kehitys ovat t\u00e4rkeit\u00e4, sill\u00e4 ne tukevat ty\u00f6uran kest\u00e4vyytt\u00e4 ja tyytyv\u00e4isyytt\u00e4. Uramenestys m\u00e4\u00e4rittyy vahvasti henkil\u00f6kohtaisten arvojen kautta pikemminkin kuin pelk\u00e4n palkan tai aseman mukaan. Uramenestyksen kannalta keskeisi\u00e4 esiin nousseita tekij\u00f6it\u00e4 olivat: ammatillinen kehitys, vastuun kasvu sek\u00e4 ty\u00f6 ja vapaa-ajan tasapaino.
