Tutkimusaineistona ovat asiantuntijaorganisaatioissa ty\u00f6skentelevien henkil\u00f6iden kirjoitukset itsens\u00e4 johtamisesta, ja tutkimusmenetelm\u00e4n\u00e4 toimii diskurssianalyysi. Tutkielman pyrkimyksen\u00e4 on selvitt\u00e4\u00e4, mink\u00e4laisia puhetapoja ilmenee itse\u00e4\u00e4n johtavien ty\u00f6ntekij\u00f6iden kirjoituksissa, ja miten ne heijastavat uuden ty\u00f6n k\u00e4yt\u00e4nt\u00f6j\u00e4 ja puhetapoja sek\u00e4 ep\u00e4suoraa hallintaa.\n\nAnalyysin taustalla on uuden ty\u00f6n k\u00e4sitteist\u00f6 erityisesti ty\u00f6n subjektivoitumisen n\u00e4k\u00f6kulmasta, itsens\u00e4 johtamisen ja ty\u00f6n voimavarojen ja vaatimusten tutkimus sek\u00e4 Foucault\u2019n teorioihin perustuvat sovellukset ep\u00e4suorasta hallinnasta. N\u00e4iden teorioiden mukaan tietoistunut asiantuntijaty\u00f6 on itseohjautuvaa ja henkil\u00f6itynytt\u00e4, mik\u00e4 asettaa ty\u00f6ntekij\u00f6ille vaatimuksen ohjata ja motivoida itse itse\u00e4\u00e4n erin\u00e4isi\u00e4 kognitiivisia strategioita hy\u00f6dynt\u00e4m\u00e4ll\u00e4.\n\nAnalyysin perusteella ty\u00f6ntekij\u00e4t kuvaavat ja luovat k\u00e4sityksi\u00e4 itsens\u00e4 johtamisesta asiantuntijaty\u00f6n kontekstissa kolmen diskurssin kautta. Itsen\u00e4isyys-sosiaalisuusdiskurssia m\u00e4\u00e4ritt\u00e4\u00e4 ty\u00f6n itsen\u00e4isyyden ja sosiaalisuuden v\u00e4linen j\u00e4nnite. Autonomiadiskurssissa korostuu vastuun jakaminen ty\u00f6ntekij\u00e4n ja ty\u00f6nantajan v\u00e4lill\u00e4 sek\u00e4 vaikutusmahdollisuudet, jotka kuitenkin j\u00e4\u00e4v\u00e4t pintapuolisiksi. Henkil\u00f6itymisdiskurssi ilment\u00e4\u00e4 ty\u00f6ntekij\u00f6ihin kohdistuvaa vaatimusta itsens\u00e4 ja hyvinvointinsa johtamisesta el\u00e4m\u00e4n eri osa-alueita ja yksil\u00f6llisi\u00e4 piirteit\u00e4 hy\u00f6dynt\u00e4en.\n\nAnalyysi osoittaa uuden ty\u00f6n k\u00e4yt\u00e4nt\u00f6jen ja itsens\u00e4 johtamisen tulleen laajasti omaksutuiksi osaksi ty\u00f6ntekij\u00f6iden puhetta. Ty\u00f6ntekij\u00f6ihin kohdistuva hallinta n\u00e4ytt\u00e4ytyy vastuun asettumisena ty\u00f6ntekij\u00f6ille sek\u00e4 ty\u00f6ntekij\u00f6iden vastahakoisena sopeutumisena ty\u00f6n k\u00e4yt\u00e4nt\u00f6ihin.
