T\u00e4m\u00e4n pro gradu -tutkielman tavoitteena on selvitt\u00e4\u00e4 nelivuotiseen urheiluyl\u00e4koulukokeiluun osallistuneiden urheilijoiden, heid\u00e4n vanhempiensa sek\u00e4 kokeilussa muulla tavoin suunnittelussa ja toteutuksessa mukana olleiden, kuten valmentajien sek\u00e4 koulun ja kaupungin edustajien kokemuksia kokeilusta urheiluun, koulunk\u00e4yntiin, hyvinvointiin ja palautumiseen sek\u00e4 toteutukseen liittyen. Tavoitteena on my\u00f6s selvitt\u00e4\u00e4, olisiko t\u00e4m\u00e4 potentiaalinen tapa tukea kaksoisuraa yl\u00e4kouluvaiheessa, ja millaisia asioita on t\u00e4rke\u00e4 huomioida t\u00e4m\u00e4nkaltaisen mallin toteuttamisessa.\n\nTutkimus toteutettiin yksil\u00f6haastatteluin. Analyysimenetelm\u00e4ksi valittiin laadullinen sis\u00e4ll\u00f6nanalyysi kuvaamaan yksil\u00f6iden kokemuksia nelivuotisesta yl\u00e4koulukokeilusta. Tutkimukseen osallistui yhteens\u00e4 13 tutkittavaa, joista urheilijoita, vanhempia sek\u00e4 valmentajia oli kuusi, ja taustahenkil\u00f6it\u00e4 (koulun henkil\u00f6kunta, urheiluseura, kaupungin ja urheiluakatemian edusta-jat) seitsem\u00e4n.\n\nYl\u00e4koului\u00e4ss\u00e4 panostaminen harjoitteluun ja kilpailemisen m\u00e4\u00e4r\u00e4 usein kasvavat. Samalla koulunk\u00e4ynnin asettamat vaatimukset lis\u00e4\u00e4ntyv\u00e4t tuntim\u00e4\u00e4r\u00e4llisesti sek\u00e4 sis\u00e4ll\u00f6llisesti, mik\u00e4 vaatii my\u00f6s tukitoimia koulun ja urheilun yhdist\u00e4miseen. Yl\u00e4koulun aikana kaksoisuran tukitoimien tavoitteena on, ett\u00e4 nuori urheilija pystyy mahdollisimman sujuvasti yhdist\u00e4m\u00e4\u00e4n koulunk\u00e4ynnin, tavoitteellisen urheilemisen ja muun vapaa-ajan. Nuorelle olisi t\u00e4rke\u00e4 synty\u00e4 hyv\u00e4t valmiudet ja edellytykset urheilijan uralle sek\u00e4 toisen asteen opintoihin. Vanhemmilla, koululla, urheiluseuralla, lajiliitolla, urheiluakatemialla ja muilla toimijoilla on merkitt\u00e4v\u00e4 rooli nuoren urheilijan tukena kaksoisuran toteutuksessa ja kasvamisessa tasapainoiseksi sek\u00e4 hyvinvoivaksi urheilijaksi.\n\nTutkittavien kokemukset kokeilusta vaihtelivat. Pidennetty yl\u00e4koulu mahdollisti korkeammat harjoitusm\u00e4\u00e4r\u00e4t ja paremman ajank\u00e4yt\u00f6n sek\u00e4 urheiluun ett\u00e4 kouluun, sek\u00e4 lis\u00e4si vapaa-aikaa. Kokonaiskuormituksesta, palautumisesta sek\u00e4 sosiaalisista suhteista nousi esiin ristiriitaisia kokemuksia. Tutkimuksessa selvisi, ett\u00e4 nelivuotinen urheiluyl\u00e4koulu n\u00e4htiin potentiaalisena tapana tukea nuorten urheilijoiden kaksoisuraa. The aim of this master's thesis is to find out the experiences of the athletes who participated in the four-year sports lower secondary school experiment, their parents, and those who were involved in the planning and implementation of the experiment in other ways, such as coaches and representatives of the school and the city, regarding the experiment in sports, schooling, well-being and recovery, as well as the implementation. The goal is also to find out if this would be a potential way to support dual careers in the middle school phase, and what kinds of things are important to consider when implementing this kind of model.\n\nThe research was carried out with individual interviews. Qualitative content analysis was chosen as the analysis method to describe individuals' experiences of the four-year lower secondary school experiment. A total of 13 subjects participated in the study, of which six were athletes, parents and coaches, and seven were background persons (school staff, sports club, city and sports academy representatives).\n\nIn lower secondary education age, the investment in training and the amount of competition often increase. At the same time, the demands set by going to school increase in terms of hours and content, which also requires support measures to combine school and sports. During lower secondary education, the goal of the dual career support measures is that the young athlete is able to combine schooling, sports and other free time as smoothly as possible. It would be important for a young person to have good skills and prerequisites for a career as an athlete and for secondary studies. Parents, school, sports club, sports association, sports academy and other actors play a significant role in supporting a young athlete in realizing a dual career and growing into a balanced and well-being athlete.\n\nThe subjects' experiences of the experiment varied. The extended lower secondary school allowed for higher amounts of practice, more free time, and enabled better use of time for both sports and school. There were conflicting experiences about the overall load, recovery and social relationships. The research revealed that the four-year sports college was seen as a potential way to support the dual careers of young athletes. The experiment revealed numerous challenges, especially related to organization and communication.
