Se koostuu sy\u00f6miseen liittyvist\u00e4 asenteista, ruoan hyv\u00e4ksynn\u00e4st\u00e4, sy\u00f6misen sis\u00e4isest\u00e4 s\u00e4\u00e4telyst\u00e4 ja sy\u00f6miskontekstin hallinnasta, kuten s\u00e4\u00e4nn\u00f6llisest\u00e4 ateriarytmist\u00e4, ja mahdollistaa kest\u00e4v\u00e4n tavan suhtautua sy\u00f6miseen vaikuttaviin sis\u00e4isiin ja ulkoisiin tekij\u00f6ihin. \n\nTutkielman p\u00e4\u00e4tarkoitus oli selvitt\u00e4\u00e4 yhteyksi\u00e4 vanhempien ruokailuun liittyv\u00e4n toiminnan ja 11\u201313-vuotiaiden nuorten sy\u00f6misen taidon v\u00e4lill\u00e4. Lis\u00e4ksi tarkasteltiin vanhempien ruokailuun liittyv\u00e4n toiminnan eroja \u00e4ideill\u00e4 ja isill\u00e4 sek\u00e4 sy\u00f6misen taitoa 11\u201313-vuotiailla tyt\u00f6ill\u00e4 ja pojilla. Aihe on ajankohtainen ja t\u00e4rke\u00e4, sill\u00e4 hyv\u00e4 ruokasuhde auttaa tekem\u00e4\u00e4n kokonaisvaltaista terveytt\u00e4 tukevia ruokavalintoja ja sen kehittymiseen on mahdollista vaikuttaa lapsuuden ja nuoruuden aikana. \n\nTutkielman aineisto on Hyv\u00e4n kasvun avaimet -seurantatutkimuksesta. Tutkielmassa hy\u00f6dynnettiin perheest\u00e4 raskausaikana ker\u00e4ttyj\u00e4 taustatietoja sek\u00e4 11\u201313 \u2013vuotisseurannan kyselylomakkeiden tietoja. Lopullinen aineisto koostui 357 \u00e4iti-nuori-parista ja 231 is\u00e4-nuori-parista. Nuorten sy\u00f6misen taitoa arvioitiin nuorten t\u00e4ytt\u00e4m\u00e4n Sy\u00f6misen taito (ecSI 2.0) -mittarin avulla. Vanhemmat vastasivat Child Feeding Questionnairen (CFQ) -kyselyyn, jonka avulla vanhempien ruokailuun liittyv\u00e4\u00e4 toimintaa arvioitiin. Tutkimuksen p\u00e4\u00e4vastemuuttujana oli sy\u00f6misen taito ja sit\u00e4 selitt\u00e4v\u00e4n\u00e4 muuttujana vanhempien ruokailuun liittyv\u00e4 toiminta. Vanhempien ruokailuun liittyv\u00e4n toiminnan yhteyksi\u00e4 lasten sy\u00f6misen taitoon ja sen osa-alueisiin tarkasteltiin erikseen \u00e4ideill\u00e4 ja isill\u00e4. P\u00e4\u00e4analyysimenetelm\u00e4n\u00e4 k\u00e4ytettiin logistista regressioanalyysi\u00e4. Aineiston analysointiin k\u00e4ytettiin IBM SPSS Statistics 26 -ohjelmaa.\n\nTutkielmassa selvisi, ett\u00e4 \u00e4idit kokivat isi\u00e4 enemm\u00e4n vastuuta nuoren ruokailusta ja tarkkailivat enemm\u00e4n nuorten ruokailemista kuin is\u00e4t. Is\u00e4t puolestaan olivat \u00e4itej\u00e4 taipuvaisempia painostamaan ja rajoittamaan nuoria ruokailutilanteissa. Sy\u00f6misen taidossa ei ollut eroja tytt\u00f6jen ja poikien v\u00e4lill\u00e4. Nuorista valtaosa oli sy\u00f6misen taitoisia. Sy\u00f6misen taidon osa-alueista sy\u00f6miseen liittyv\u00e4t asenteet ja sy\u00f6misen sis\u00e4inen s\u00e4\u00e4tely olivat nuorilla parhaiten hallussa. Vastaavasti ruoan hyv\u00e4ksynn\u00e4ss\u00e4 ja sy\u00f6miskontekstin hallinnassa oli nuorilla keskim\u00e4\u00e4rin eniten kehitett\u00e4v\u00e4\u00e4. Painostaminen oli sek\u00e4 \u00e4idin ett\u00e4 is\u00e4n toimesta negatiivisesti yhteydess\u00e4 nuoren sy\u00f6misen taitoon ja sy\u00f6misen liittyviin asenteisiin. Lis\u00e4ksi my\u00f6s rajoittaminen \u00e4idin toimesta ja \u00e4idin huoli lapsen painosta olivat negatiivisesti yhteydess\u00e4 nuoren sy\u00f6misen taitoon sek\u00e4 sen osa-alueisiin, mutta vastaavia yhteyksi\u00e4 ei l\u00f6ytynyt isien ja nuorten v\u00e4lilt\u00e4.\n\nJohtop\u00e4\u00e4t\u00f6ksin\u00e4 voidaan todeta, ett\u00e4 sek\u00e4 \u00e4itien ett\u00e4 isien ruokailuun liittyv\u00e4 toiminta voi vaikuttaa nuorten sy\u00f6misen taitoon sek\u00e4 sen yksitt\u00e4isiin osa-alueisiin. Etenkin sy\u00f6m\u00e4\u00e4n painostaminen voi olla haitallista sy\u00f6misen taidon kehittymiselle. Erot isien ja \u00e4itien ruokailuun liittyv\u00e4n toiminnan yhteyksiss\u00e4 nuorten sy\u00f6misen taitoon voivat antaa viitteit\u00e4 siit\u00e4, ett\u00e4 vuorovaikutussuhde vanhemman ja nuoren v\u00e4lill\u00e4 tai vanhemmuuden tyyli, voivat vaikuttaa siihen, miten vanhempien ruokailuun liittyv\u00e4 toiminta on yhteydess\u00e4 nuorten sy\u00f6misen taitoon.", "language": "fi", "element": "description", "qualifier": "abstract", "schema": "dc"}, {"key": "dc.description.abstract", "value": "Eating competence is a conceptualization of eating attitudes and behaviors that consists of eating attitudes, food acceptance, internal regulation, and contextual skills. It allows intrinsically rewarding nutritional behaviors that are the key to being responsively attuned to outer and inner experiences relative to eating.\n\nThe main aim of this study was to examine the association between food-related parenting practices and eating competence among adolescents aged 11-13 years. The differences between mothers\u00b4 and fathers\u00b4 food-related parenting practices and the eating competence of girls and boys aged 11-13 years were also reviewed. The topic is particularly relevant and important because with good eating-related attitudes and skills it is easier to make food-related decisions that support health and well-being. This is especially crucial in an environment full of food ques and possibilities. Moreover, it is possible to influence eating-related attitudes and food behavior during childhood and adolescence. \n\nData of the study is from a longitudinal and on-going research called \u201cHyv\u00e4n kasvun avaimet\u201d. Data were collected during pregnancy and from the follow-up study of parents and their adolescents. Conclusive data consisted of 357 mother-adolescent-pairs and 231 father-adolescent-pairs. In this study adolescents eating competence was assessed by using the Satter Eating Competence Inventory (ecSI 2.0) instrument filled out by adolescents. Food-related parenting practices were evaluated by means of Child Feeding Questionnaire filled out by parents. Logistic regression analyzes were performed, with food-related parenting practices as the predictors and eating competence as the dependent variable. Analyzes were made separately for mother-adolescent pairs and father-adolescent pairs controlling for known confounders. IBM SPSS Statistics 26 was used to analyse the data.\n\nAnalyzes revealed that mothers monitored and felt more responsible for adolescents\u2019 eating than fathers. In contrast, fathers tended to use more pressure and restriction than mothers. The eating competence of girls and boys was similar. Most of the adolescents were competent eaters.\nEating attitudes and internal regulation were well mastered by many adolescents, whilst least developed skills were food acceptance and contextual skills. Higher scores in mothers\u00b4 and fathers\u00b4 food-related parenting practice \u2018\u2018pressure\u2019\u2019 was associated negatively with adolescents\u00b4 eating competence and eating attitudes. Higher scores in restriction by mothers and mothers\u00b4 greater concerns about adolescents\u00b4 weight were negatively related to adolescents\u00b4 eating competence and some of its components. No significant effects of restriction by fathers\u00b4 or fathers\u00b4 concerns about adolescents\u00b4 weight and adolescents\u00b4 eating competence were found. \n\nThe results indicate that food-related parenting practices may affect adolescents\u00b4 eating competence. Especially pressure to eat may be detrimental to adolescents\u00b4 eating competence.
