Oppiaineissa k\u00e4ytett\u00e4v\u00e4 kieli eli tiedonalojen kieli on paljon tutkittu, mutta yh\u00e4 laajalti aliymm\u00e4rretty ilmi\u00f6, joka kuitenkin l\u00e4p\u00e4isee kaikki oppiaineet ja -asteet. My\u00f6s vieraskielinen aineenopetus CLIL on vuosikymmeni\u00e4 k\u00e4yt\u00f6ss\u00e4 ollut opetustapa ja kansainv\u00e4lisesti hyvin tutkittu ja dokumentoitu ilmi\u00f6. N\u00e4m\u00e4 kaksi tutkimuskohdetta eiv\u00e4t kuitenkaan ole aikaisemmin kohdanneet, ja ottaen huomioon, ett\u00e4 CLIL:ss\u00e4 tiedonalan kieli on luonnollisesti my\u00f6s vieraalla kielell\u00e4, t\u00e4llainen yhdistys oli \u00e4\u00e4rimm\u00e4isen oleellista tehd\u00e4. \n\nTutkimus toteutettiin haastattelemalla kahta (2) yl\u00e4koulun aineenopettajaa eri oppiaineista ja eri paikkakunnilta tammi-helmikuussa 2022. Osallistujat haastateltiin et\u00e4n\u00e4 videopuhelujen v\u00e4lityksell\u00e4, ja n\u00e4ist\u00e4 puheluista s\u00e4ilytettiin tutkimuksen ajaksi \u00e4\u00e4niraidat, jotka litteroitiin. N\u00e4ist\u00e4 haastatteluista tehtyjen litterointien pohjalta suoritettiin aineiston laadullinen sis\u00e4ll\u00f6nanalyysi ja l\u00f6ydettiin viisi teemaa, jotka yhdistiv\u00e4t molempia haastateltavia ja tarjosivat relevantteja vastauksia tutkimuskysymyksiin.\n\nCLIL-opettajien oletettiin olevan erityisen perill\u00e4 tiedonalan kielest\u00e4, sill\u00e4 he opettavat aineensa lis\u00e4ksi l\u00e4ht\u00f6kohtaisesti enemm\u00e4n kielt\u00e4 kuin keskim\u00e4\u00e4r\u00e4inen aineenopettaja. Vertailua ei t\u00e4ss\u00e4 tutkimuksessa tehty, mutta osoittautui, ett\u00e4 n\u00e4iden opettajien k\u00e4sitys kielest\u00e4 opetuksessa oli hyvin moninainen ja englanninkielisyys oli n\u00e4iss\u00e4 prosesseissa keski\u00f6ss\u00e4. Tutkimus osoitti haastateltavien olevan perill\u00e4 tiedonalansa kielen k\u00e4yt\u00f6st\u00e4 ja konventioistakin, mutta sen tarkempi analysointi ja v\u00e4litt\u00e4minen oppilaille n\u00e4yttiv\u00e4t olevan t\u00e4m\u00e4n tutkimuksen teoriataustaa vasten tarkasteltuna puutteellisia. Monet prosessit liittyen oppiaineen kieleen toimivat osin opettajien tiedostamatta, mutta kaiken kaikkiaan voidaan sanoa heid\u00e4n olevan hyvin perill\u00e4 oppiaineidensa tiedonalankielisyydest\u00e4. \n\nMainittujen puutteiden ei voida katsoa olevan opettajien, vaan enemm\u00e4nkin heit\u00e4 tukemattoman kouluj\u00e4rjestelm\u00e4n ja kasvaneiden vaatimusten syyt\u00e4.
