Firstly, it is an\nattempt to understand the complex social phenomenon of\ndisadvantages, especially in relation to education. Secondly, and most\nimportantly, it is a tool to perpetuate change.\nThe chosen mode of inquiry is nexus analysis, which grounds\nboth the theoretical and methodological choices of this research,\ncomplemented with a theoretical background of social inequalities.\nGuided by the holistic approach of such analysis, I generated data by\ndoing insider ethnography in a marginalised Hungarian setting over\nthe course of three years. The data consists of field work notes and\nphotographs, learning plans and assessments, recorded and\ntranscribed interviews, respectively other types of documentation.\nThe scrutiny follows the steps of a nexus analysis: engaging,\nnavigating, and changing the nexus of practice.\nThe results of this research are interpreted through the changes\nfacilitated by the inductive and participatory mode of inquiry. Namely,\nby the changes which took place within the nexus of practice of\ntackling disadvantages as well as the changes within the researcher\nalong the way. However, the aim of the study was to formulate new\nquestions for catalysing further change in the form of social action\nand inquiry, both addressing the issue of social inequality.
