Tutkimusteht\u00e4v\u00e4n\u00e4 oli tuottaa tietoa ja kasvattaa ymm\u00e4rryst\u00e4 formatiivisen arvioinnin monitahoisesta luonteesta ja selvitt\u00e4\u00e4 alakoulun luokanopettajien k\u00e4ytt\u00e4mi\u00e4 formatiivisen arvioinnin k\u00e4yt\u00e4nteit\u00e4 \u2013 mink\u00e4laisia arviointitapoja he k\u00e4ytt\u00e4v\u00e4t oppilaan arvioinnissa. Lis\u00e4ksi tutkimuksesta kertyneen aineiston avulla pohdittiin luokanopettajien k\u00e4sityksi\u00e4 formatiivisesta arvioinnista arviointiv\u00e4lineen\u00e4. \nTutkimus toteutettiin laadullisena tutkimuksena haastattelemalla seitsem\u00e4\u00e4 alakoulun opettajaa. Haastattelumuotona k\u00e4ytettiin puolistrukturoitua teemahaastattelua. Aineisto litteroitiin ja haastatteluvastaukset analysoitiin laadullisen sis\u00e4ll\u00f6nanalyysin avulla teemoitellen ja luokitellen. Litteroitua aineistoa kertyi 103 sivua. Sis\u00e4ll\u00f6nanalyysi oli osin teoriaohjaavaa, mutta suurelta osin teorial\u00e4ht\u00f6ist\u00e4. Tutkimuksen teoreettisena pohjana toimi OECD:n vuonna 2005 teett\u00e4m\u00e4 laaja monimetodinen tutkimus formatiivisesta arvioinnista. T\u00e4m\u00e4n tutkimuksen sis\u00e4ll\u00f6nanalyysissa k\u00e4ytettiin apuna OECD 2005 \u2013 tutkimuksen luokittelumatriisia formatiivisen arvioinnin k\u00e4yt\u00e4nteist\u00e4. \nTutkimustulosten mukaan luokanopettajat k\u00e4ytt\u00e4v\u00e4t runsaasti ja monipuolisesti erilaisia formatiivisen arvioinnin k\u00e4yt\u00e4nteit\u00e4. Lis\u00e4ksi tutkimustulosten mukaan suurin osa luokanopettajista koki formatiivisen arvioinnin eritt\u00e4in t\u00e4rke\u00e4n\u00e4 osana arviointia, kuitenkaan summatiivisen arvioinnin t\u00e4rkeytt\u00e4 unohtamatta. \nTutkimustulokset antoivat viitteit\u00e4 siit\u00e4, ett\u00e4 formatiivisen arvioinnin k\u00e4yt\u00e4nteet ovat nousemassa yh\u00e4 t\u00e4rke\u00e4mp\u00e4\u00e4n rooliin osana oppilasarviointia.
