Tom Andersenin kehittämää reflektiivisten prosessien työmenetelmää käsitellään tutkielmassa myös institutionaalisen vallan näkökulmasta. Tutkielma on osa Kuopion yliopistollisen sairaalan lastenpsykiatrian poliklinikan kanssa yhteistyössä toteutettua tutkimusprojektia. Tämän tutkimuksen aineistoon on valittu terapiaistuntoja kahdelta eri perheeltä, ja tutkielmassa on analysoitu reflektiivisiä prosesseja kolmelta eri terapiaistunnolta. Videoituja perheterapiaistuntoja tutkittiin keskustelunanalyysin keinoin. Analyysiä varten kehitettiin uusi multimodaalinen merkintäjärjestelmä, jolla pystytiin tarkastelemaan mikroanalyyttisesti monitoimijaista vuorovaikutustilannetta. Tulokset osoittavat, että reflektiivisiä prosesseja käytetään perheterapiassa spontaanisti vuorovaikutuksen dialogisena työvälineenä. Reflektiivisiä prosesseja sovellettiin myös vakiintuneesta struktuurista poiketen. Tällöin terapeuttien katse ja puhe suuntautui perheenjäseniä kohti, jolloin perheenjäsenet säilyivät tiimin keskustelun aikana selontekovelvollisen asemassa. Reflektiivisten prosessien yhteistoiminnallisessa koordinoinnissa nousee esiin vallan kysymysten läsnäolo. Perheterapeuttien toiminnassa tämä näkyi sekä dialogisen terapiaperinteen vuorovaikutusideologiana että institutionaalisen kontekstin edellyttämänä orkestroijan roolina. Vanhemman kanssaosallistujia tukeva rooli reflektiivisissä prosesseissa näkyi aineistossa yhtäältä keskustelun normien ja sisältöjen selventämisessä lapselle, mutta toisaalta myös lapsen toiminnan, taipumusten ja kiinnostuksenkohteiden esilletuomisessa terapeuteille. Tulokset osoittavat, että vaikka lapsi ei vastaisi reflektiivisen prosessin aikana terapeuttien aloitteisiin heidän odotustensa mukaisesti, seuraa lapsi käynnissä olevaa vuorovaikutusta tarkkaavaisesti. Tämän tutkimuksen tulokset tarjoavat uutta tietoa siitä, miten lapset ottavat osaa perheterapian reflektiivisiin prosesseihin, ja miten tuota osallistumista voidaan terapeuttien tai vanhemman toimesta tukea. This thesis examines the reflective processes appearing during therapy sessions with families who have children that are diagnosed with oppositional defiant disorder or conduct disorder. The aim of this study is to find out how the reflective processes are collaboratively coordinated and how the children are considered during that coordination. In this study, Tom Andersen’s application of reflective processes is discussed from the perspective of the institutional power. This study is a part of a research project carried out in collaboration with the Child Psychiatric Outpatient Clinic of Kuopio University Hospital. The material for this study consisted of therapy sessions from two different families and the reflective processes were analyzed from three different therapy sessions. Videotaped family therapy sessions were analyzed applying conversational analysis. For this analysis, a new multimodal labeling system was developed to micro-analytically examine the multi-actor interaction situation. The results of this study show that reflective processes are spontaneously used during the family therapy sessions as a dialogical tool for interaction. Reflective processes were also applied divergently from Andersen’s established structure. In these situations, the therapists’ gaze and speech were directed towards the family members so that the family members remained accountable in the reflective team’s discussion. Due to its collaborative nature, there are always aspects of institutional power in the reflective processes. These aspects become visible when the family therapists aim to integrate the interactional ideology of dialogical therapies with their institutional role as an interactional orchestrator. The supportive role of the parent in the reflective processes appeared in the material both in clarifying the norms and contents of the discussion for the child but also in presenting the child’s activities, tendencies, and interests to the therapists. The results show that even if the child does not respond to the therapists’ initiatives during the reflective process as expected, the child closely monitors the ongoing interaction. The results of this study provide new insights into how children participate in the reflective processes of family therapy and how that engagement can be supported by the therapists or parents.
