Kaupungistuminen on v\u00e4hent\u00e4nyt ihmisten altistumista ymp\u00e4rist\u00f6mikrobeille, jonka on havaittu vaikuttavan immuunisairauksien yleistymiseen. Aktiivivihersein\u00e4t hy\u00f6dynt\u00e4v\u00e4t monimuotoista mikrobistoa VOC-yhdisteiden hajottamiseen. VOC-yhdisteiden poistotehosta in situ ei ole julkaistu ennen t\u00e4t\u00e4 tutkimusta ja aiemmat mikrobiyhteis\u00f6tutkimukset ovat keskittyneet VOC-hajottajamikrobien tunnistamiseen. Poistotehoa seurattiin ker\u00e4\u00e4m\u00e4ll\u00e4 VOC-n\u00e4ytteit\u00e4 kolmesta eri mittauspisteest\u00e4\u2014vihersein\u00e4n ulostuloilmasta, vihersein\u00e4n sis\u00e4lt\u00e4m\u00e4st\u00e4 huoneesta, sek\u00e4 kontrollihuoneesta ilman vihersein\u00e4\u00e4. Mikrobiyhteis\u00f6jen rakennetta tutkittiin 16S rRNA sekvensoimalla n\u00e4ytteit\u00e4 hanavedest\u00e4, vihersein\u00e4n kasteluvedest\u00e4, sek\u00e4 vihersein\u00e4n ulostuloilmasta. VOC-yhdisteiden kokonaispitoisuudet havaittiin mataliksi, eik\u00e4 mittauspisteiden v\u00e4lill\u00e4 havaittu merkitsevi\u00e4 eroja. Kasteluveden mikrobiyhteis\u00f6n havaittiin olevan Betaproteobacteriales \u2013heimon dominoima. Additionally, urbanization has reduced human exposure to environmental microbes, which might have led to the growing popularity of inflammatory diseases. An active green wall employs a rich microbial community with VOC degradation potential for indoor air treatment. Before this study, in situ testing of VOC-removal abilities has been limited and microbial community studies have mainly focused on taxa with VOC-degrading potential. We studied VOC removal abilities by collecting indoor air in three different points\u2014green wall outlet fan, room with a green wall and control room without the green wall. High-throughput sequencing of 16S rRNA was utilized to screen microbe communities in tap and irrigation tank water, and air collected from the green wall outlet fan. A species-specific qPCR was applied to detect and quantify pathogenic L. pneumophila .Total VOC concentrations were generally low and no significant differences between VOC collection points were found. Irrigation tank water had high abundance of order Betaproteobacteriales, likely derived from tap water. Abundance of emitted bacteria was found moderate and air community structure resembled the normal indoor air microbiota with skin-related Actinobacteria dominating the microbial diversity.
