Foreign Language Classroom Anxiety) voi vaikuttaa usean oppilaan el\u00e4m\u00e4\u00e4n, ja est\u00e4\u00e4 oppilaita n\u00e4ytt\u00e4m\u00e4st\u00e4 todellista potentiaaliaan oppimistilanteissa. Joskus oppilas voidaan virheellisesti leimata laiskaksi tai ep\u00e4motivoituneeksi, vaikka todellisuudessa osallistumisen puutteessa voi olla kyse my\u00f6s ahdistuksesta. Opettajat voivat usein k\u00e4yt\u00f6ksell\u00e4\u00e4n vaikuttaa siihen, millainen ilmapiiri luokkahuoneessa on, ja kuinka mukavaksi oppilaat siell\u00e4 olonsa kokevat, mik\u00e4 puolestaan vaikuttaa oppilaiden osallistumis- ja oppimismotivaatioon. \nKoska ahdistuksen rooli suomalaisessa luokkahuoneessa on ilmi\u00f6n\u00e4 viel\u00e4 pitk\u00e4lti h\u00e4m\u00e4r\u00e4n peitossa, t\u00e4ss\u00e4 tutkielmassa oltiin kiinnostuneita mahdollisen ahdistuksen yleisyydest\u00e4, sek\u00e4 oppilaiden n\u00e4kemyksist\u00e4 opettajan roolista suhteessa ahdistukseen. Tutkittaviksi valikoitua kaksi kieltenryhm\u00e4\u00e4, jotka koostuivat toisen vuoden lukio-opiskelijoista, kahdesta eri kaupungista. Aineistoa n\u00e4ilt\u00e4 lukiolaisilta ker\u00e4ttiin 20 kysymyksest\u00e4 koostuvalla s\u00e4hk\u00f6isell\u00e4 kyselylomakkeella. Lomakkeen kysymyksist\u00e4 16 oli suljettuja kysymyksi\u00e4, vastausvaihtoehtojen sijoittuessa v\u00e4lille 1-5. Loput nelj\u00e4 kysymyst\u00e4 olivat avoimia kysymyksi\u00e4, mill\u00e4 pyrittiin kartoittamaan erityisesti oppilaiden k\u00e4sitykset opettajan roolista suhteessa mainittun ahdistukseen. \nTulosten perusteella enemmist\u00f6 vastaajista voitiin m\u00e4\u00e4ritell\u00e4 vain liev\u00e4sti, tai ei lainkaan ahdistuneeksi, mik\u00e4 tarkoittaa ahdistuneiden oppilaiden olevan v\u00e4hemmist\u00f6ss\u00e4. Vastaajista suurin osa koki opettajan roolin aktiiviseksi, eli heid\u00e4n mielest\u00e4\u00e4n opettaja pystyy vaikuttamaan oppilaiden ahdistukseen omalla toiminnallaan.
