Kaupunkipy\u00f6r\u00e4j\u00e4rjestelm\u00e4n\r\nn\u00e4hd\u00e4\u00e4n olevan yksi parhaista kest\u00e4v\u00e4n liikenteen ratkaisusta, mill\u00e4 voidaan vastata\r\nilmastonmuutokseen. Lis\u00e4ksi kaupunkipy\u00f6r\u00e4j\u00e4rjestelm\u00e4n avulla voidaan saavuttaa merkitt\u00e4vi\u00e4\r\nhy\u00f6tyj\u00e4 terveyden ja talouden osa-alueilla. Suomessa ensimm\u00e4inen kokonaisvaltainen\r\nkaupunkipy\u00f6r\u00e4j\u00e4rjestelm\u00e4 otettiin k\u00e4ytt\u00f6\u00f6n vuonna 2016 Helsingiss\u00e4, josta se on levinnyt\r\nymp\u00e4ri maata. Aikaisempien tutkimusten perusteella on tunnistettu, ett\u00e4 nykyiset\r\nkaupunkipy\u00f6r\u00e4j\u00e4rjestelm\u00e4t eiv\u00e4t palvele kaikkia tasapuolisesti ja k\u00e4ytt\u00e4j\u00e4joukko on hyvin\r\nhomogeeninen.\r\nT\u00e4m\u00e4n tutkimuksen tarkoituksena oli selvitt\u00e4\u00e4, mink\u00e4laisia kaupunkipy\u00f6r\u00e4j\u00e4rjestelm\u00e4n\r\nk\u00e4ytt\u00e4j\u00e4t ja ei-k\u00e4ytt\u00e4j\u00e4t ovat k\u00e4ytt\u00e4j\u00e4profiileiltaan Helsingin, Espoon ja Vantaan kaupungin\r\nalueilla ja onko heiss\u00e4 eroa. Lis\u00e4ksi oltiin kiinnostuneita, mitk\u00e4 syyt ovat yhteydess\u00e4\r\nkaupunkipy\u00f6rien k\u00e4ytt\u00f6\u00f6n ja k\u00e4ytt\u00e4m\u00e4tt\u00f6myyteen. Tutkimus toteutettiin yhteisty\u00f6ss\u00e4 Helsingin\r\nseudun liikenne -kuntayhtym\u00e4n kanssa. Tutkimusaineisto ker\u00e4ttiin s\u00e4hk\u00f6isell\u00e4\r\nkyselylomakkeella joulukuussa 2019. Kyselyyn vastasi yhteens\u00e4 3 379 henkil\u00f6\u00e4. Vastaajista 40\r\nprosenttia ilmoitti k\u00e4ytt\u00e4neens\u00e4 kaupunkipy\u00f6ri\u00e4 ja loput 60 prosenttia muodostui ei-k\u00e4ytt\u00e4jist\u00e4.\r\nVastaajilta tiedusteltiin sosiodemografisia tietoja, toimintakykyyn terveyteen ja\r\nliikuntatottumuksiin liittyvi\u00e4 asioita sek\u00e4 kaupunkipy\u00f6rien k\u00e4ytt\u00f6\u00f6n ja k\u00e4ytt\u00e4m\u00e4tt\u00f6myyteen\r\nliittyvi\u00e4 syit\u00e4. Tuloksia tarkasteltiin ensin kaikkien kaupunkipy\u00f6rien k\u00e4ytt\u00e4jien ja ei-k\u00e4ytt\u00e4jien\r\nv\u00e4lill\u00e4, mink\u00e4 j\u00e4lkeen vertailtiin Helsingin, Espoon ja Vantaan alueiden\r\nkaupunkipy\u00f6r\u00e4palveluiden k\u00e4ytt\u00e4ji\u00e4 ja ei-k\u00e4ytt\u00e4ji\u00e4 toisiinsa.\r\nK\u00e4ytt\u00e4jien ja ei-k\u00e4ytt\u00e4jien v\u00e4lill\u00e4 havaittiin useita tilastollisesti merkitsevi\u00e4 eroja.\r\nKaupunkipy\u00f6rien k\u00e4ytt\u00e4jiss\u00e4 oli enemm\u00e4n nuorempia, korkeamman tutkinnon suorittaneita ja\r\nparemmin tienaavia kuin ei-k\u00e4ytt\u00e4jiss\u00e4. K\u00e4ytt\u00e4j\u00e4t kokivat toimintakykyns\u00e4 ja terveytens\u00e4\r\nuseammin paremmaksi kuin ei-k\u00e4ytt\u00e4j\u00e4t. Vantaan ei-k\u00e4ytt\u00e4jiss\u00e4 oli suurempi osuus alemman\r\ntutkinnon suorittaneita verrattuna Helsinkiin ja Espooseen. K\u00e4yt\u00e4nn\u00f6llisyys ja\r\nriippumattomuus aikatauluista olivat t\u00e4rkeimm\u00e4t kaupunkipy\u00f6r\u00e4n valintaan vaikuttavat syyt.\r\nOman py\u00f6r\u00e4n k\u00e4ytt\u00f6 ja tunne, ett\u00e4 palvelua oli hankala k\u00e4ytt\u00e4\u00e4, olivat yhteydess\u00e4\r\nkaupunkipy\u00f6rien k\u00e4ytt\u00e4m\u00e4tt\u00f6myyteen. Espoossa ja Vantaalla k\u00e4ytt\u00e4m\u00e4tt\u00f6myyden syyksi oli\r\nvalittu Helsinki\u00e4 useammin se, ett\u00e4 kaupunkipy\u00f6r\u00e4asemia ei ollut matkan varrella.\r\nT\u00e4m\u00e4n tutkimuksen tulokset vahvistavat aikaisempia tuloksia siit\u00e4, ett\u00e4 kaupunkipy\u00f6r\u00e4palvelu\r\nei palvele my\u00f6sk\u00e4\u00e4n Helsingin, Espoon ja Vantaan alueiden asukkaita tasapuolisesti.\r\nKaupunkipy\u00f6r\u00e4palvelun kehitt\u00e4misess\u00e4 ja k\u00e4ytt\u00f6\u00f6notossa tulisi tulevaisuudessa ottaa\r\nparemmin huomioon koko alueen asukaskunta ja arvioida millainen j\u00e4rjestelm\u00e4 alueelle\r\nsoveltuu. Kaupunkipy\u00f6r\u00e4j\u00e4rjestelm\u00e4 on kallis investointi, joten k\u00e4ytt\u00f6\u00f6noton suunnitteluty\u00f6h\u00f6n\r\nkannattaa varata riitt\u00e4v\u00e4sti aikaa. Bikesharing is seen as one of the best forms of sustainable transportation modes,\r\nwhich can help contain climate change. In addition, bikesharing can contribute to positive\r\neffects in public health and the economy. In Finland the first modern bikesharing system was\r\nestablished in Helsinki 2016, after which the usage has been spread to rest of the country.\r\nRecent studies have found that bikesharing systems are not available to all equally, and that the\r\nusers of bikesharing systems are actually a very homogenous group globally.\r\nThe aim of this study was to examine who the users and non-users of bikesharing systems in\r\nthe area of Helsinki, Espoo and Vantaa are, and if there are differences between the cities. In\r\naddition, the study aimed to identify specific motivators and barriers to bikeshare system usage.\r\nThe study was carried out in co-operation with Helsinki Region Transport. The data in this\r\nstudy was collected by using electronic survey in December 2019. In total, 3 379 respondents\r\ncompleted the survey, out of which 40 percent were bikesharing system users and 60 percent\r\nwere non-users. The questionnaire included questions about background, ability to function,\r\nstate of health and physical activity, as well as motivations and barriers to usage of bikeshare\r\nsystem. The results were first analyzed for all users and non-users, after which comparisons\r\nwere made between users and non-users between the cities of Helsinki, Espoo and Vantaa.\r\nThere were several statistically significant differences between users and non-users. Bikeshare\r\nsystem users in the area of Helsinki, Espoo and Vantaa tended to be younger, higher educated\r\nand with higher income in comparison to non-users. In addition, users felt their ability to\r\nfunction and their state of health often better than non-users. Non-users in Vantaa tended to\r\nhave lower education compared to non-users in Helsinki and Espoo. The most common\r\nmotivators among users were convenience and independence from schedules. Non-users' most\r\ncommon barriers were using own bike and that bikesharing systems were perceived as difficult\r\nto use. In Espoo and Vantaa, the reason for non-usage was more often lack of bikesharing\r\nstations along the route compared to Helsinki.\r\nResults of this study confirm earlier results of recent studies, where bikeshare systems also in\r\nthe area of Helsinki, Espoo and Vantaa are not equal and seem to serve a specific group. In the\r\nfuture development and implementation of bikesharing systems more care should be placed on\r\nthe people of the area, together with a careful estimation of what kind of bikeshare system\r\nwould be suitable for that area. Bikesharing system is an expensive investment and thus worth\r\ncareful planning.
