Tutkimuksessa tarkasteltiin koetun fyysisen p\u00e4tevyyden yhteytt\u00e4 kokonaisliikunta-aktiivisuuteen ja liikunnan harrastamiseen. Lis\u00e4ksi tarkasteltiin vanhemmilta saadun emotionaalisen tuen yhteytt\u00e4 koettuun fyysiseen p\u00e4tevyyteen, kokonaisliikunta-aktiivisuuteen sek\u00e4 liikunnan harrastamiseen. Fyysinen p\u00e4tevyys tarkoittaa arviota motorisista taidoista sek\u00e4 kunnosta. Fyysinen p\u00e4tevyys on positiivisesti yhteydess\u00e4 fyysiseen aktiivisuuteen. Aineistona k\u00e4ytettiin suomalaista WHO-Koululaistutkimuksen puhdistettua aineistoa vuodelta 2010 (n = 6723). WHO-Koululaistutkimuksen tarkoituksena on ker\u00e4t\u00e4 kansainv\u00e4lisesti vertailukelpoista tietoa nuorten terveysk\u00e4ytt\u00e4ytymisest\u00e4 nelj\u00e4n vuoden v\u00e4lein. Kyselyyn vastasivat viides-, seitsem\u00e4s- sek\u00e4 yhdeks\u00e4sluokkalaiset anonyymisti opettajan valvonnassa koulup\u00e4iv\u00e4n aikana. Analyysi menetelmin\u00e4 k\u00e4ytettiin Spearmanin korrelaatio kerrointa, Kruskall-Wallis testi\u00e4, ristiintaulukointia sek\u00e4 ManWhitney U-testi\u00e4.\nKoettu fyysinen p\u00e4tevyys oli yhteydess\u00e4 kokonaisliikunta-aktiivisuuteen (r = .363, p<.001) sek\u00e4 liikunnan harrastamiseen ( r =.428 p < .001). Yhteys vahvistui i\u00e4n my\u00f6t\u00e4, mutta harvemmat pitiv\u00e4t koettua fyysist\u00e4 p\u00e4tevyytt\u00e4 eritt\u00e4in hyv\u00e4n\u00e4 tai hyv\u00e4n\u00e4. \u00c4idin emotionaalinen tuki oli yhteydess\u00e4 tytt\u00f6jen (r = .125, p <. 001) ja poikien (r =.047, p = .037) koettuun fyysisen p\u00e4tevyyden tunteeseen, tytt\u00f6jen kokonaisliikunta-aktiivisuuteen (r = .055, p = .011) sek\u00e4 tytt\u00f6jen liikunnan harrastamiseen (r = .076 p <. 001). Is\u00e4n emotionaalinen tuki oli yhteydess\u00e4 tytt\u00f6jen (r = .184, p < .001) ja poikien (r =.064, p = .005) koettuun fyysiseen p\u00e4tevyyteen, tytt\u00f6jen kokonaisliikunta-aktiivisuuteen (r = .082, p < .001), sek\u00e4 tytt\u00f6jen (r = .106, p < .001) ja 7.luokkalaisten poikien (r =.064, p = .006) liikunnan harrastamiseen. V\u00e4h\u00e4n tai ei lainkaan emotionaalista tukea kokevien nuorten m\u00e4\u00e4r\u00e4t olivat eritt\u00e4in pieni\u00e4.\nVanhempien emotionaalisella tuella oli yhteytt\u00e4 nuorten koettuun fyysiseen p\u00e4tevyyteen, mutta ei juurikaan kokonaisliikunta-aktiivisuuteen. Etenkin is\u00e4n tuki oli vahvasti yhteydess\u00e4 tytt\u00f6jen koettuun fyysiseen p\u00e4tevyyteen ja kokonaisliikunta-aktiivisuuteen. Vaikka \u00e4idin tuella ei olut yht\u00e4 vahvaa yhteytt\u00e4 kuin is\u00e4n tuella, tukea saaneet nuoret kokivat fyysisen p\u00e4tevyytens\u00e4 paremmaksi ja harrastivat enemm\u00e4n liikuntaa. Vanhempien tuella oli huomattavasti pienempi yhteys poikien koettuun fyysiseen p\u00e4tevyyteen ja liikunnan harrastamiseen. Nuorten terveyden edist\u00e4misen n\u00e4k\u00f6kulmasta on t\u00e4rke\u00e4\u00e4 ymm\u00e4rt\u00e4\u00e4 millaisia yhteyksi\u00e4 ja merkityksi\u00e4 vanhempien emotonaalisen tuella on nuoren fyysisen p\u00e4tevyyden kokemukseen.", "language": "fi", "element": "description", "qualifier": "abstract", "schema": "dc"}, {"key": "dc.description.abstract", "value": "The purpose of this study was to find determinants of adolescents' physical activity. The focus was on finding the relationship between physical competence, moderate to vigorous physical activity (MVPA), and sports. Another focus was on the relationship between parents' emotional support and physical competence, MVPA, and sports. The Finnish cleaned data of the Health Behavior of School-aged Children (HBSC) study from 2010 was used in this study (n = 6723). HBSC is a multinational study of adolescent\u2019s health behavior. Data is collected every four-year. Spearman correlation, Kruskall-Wallis test, crosstabulation, and ManWhitney U-test were used to analyze data.\nPhysical competence associated statistically with MVPA (r = .363, p<.001) and sports ( r =.428 p < .001). The association got stronger from 5th to 9th grade, but at the same time estimate from physical competence got weaker. Mother\u2019s emotional support associated significantly with girls\u2019 (r = .125, p <. 001) and boys\u2019 (r =.047, p = .037) physical competence, girls\u2019 MVPA (r = .055, p = .011) and girls\u2019 sports (r = .076 p <. 001). Father\u2019s emotional support associated significantly with girls\u2019 (r = .184, p < .001) and boys\u2019 (r =.064, p = .005), physical competence, girls MVPA (r = .082, p < .001), and girls (r = .106, p < .001) and seventh grade boys\u2019 (r =.064, p = .006) sports. There were very little adolescents who reported a little or not at all emotional support.\nParents' emotional support had a strong statistical association with physical competence but the relationship was weaker to MVPA. Especially father\u2019s emotional support to girls' physical competence and sports was strong. The adolescents who felt that they got support from their parents had better physical competence and did more sports. Parents' support was significantly smaller for boys than girls.
