Kielten oppimisen t\u00e4rkeimm\u00e4ksi tavoitteeksi on noussut kyky olla vuorovaikutuksessa \u2013 niin suullisessa kuin kirjallisessakin \u2013 muiden ihmisten kanssa, ja kunkin kulttuurin sosiaalisten s\u00e4\u00e4nt\u00f6jen mukaisesti. Niinp\u00e4 my\u00f6s suullista kielitaitoa on alettu tutkia entist\u00e4 enemm\u00e4n (ks. esim. Tergujeff 2013; Hietala 2013). \n\nT\u00e4m\u00e4n Pro Gradu \u2013tutkielman tarkoituksena oli selvitt\u00e4\u00e4, millaisia asenteita suomalaisilla englannin opettajilla on kommunikatiivisia harjoituksia kohtaan. Kysymyst\u00e4 l\u00e4hestyttiin useasta n\u00e4k\u00f6kulmasta, joihin kuuluivat opettajien raportoima k\u00e4ytt\u00f6tiheys, arviointi hyv\u00e4n kommunikatiivisen harjoituksen ominaisuuksista, harjoitusten k\u00e4ytt\u00f6mahdollisuudet sek\u00e4 opettajien raportoima osallistuminen harjoitusten aikana. Tutkimuksen teoreettinen viitekehys muodostuu Communicative Language Teaching ja Task-Based Teaching \u2013metodologioista sek\u00e4 aiemmista kommunikatiivista kompetenssia koskevista tutkimuksista. \n\nTutkimus tapahtui kyselyll\u00e4, jota jaettiin Suomen Englanninopettajat Ry:n s\u00e4hk\u00f6postilistalla ja Facebook-sivulla. P\u00e4\u00e4asiassa kvantitatiivinen aineisto muodostui 67 vastaajasta, joiden vastauksista huomiota kiinnitettiin jakaumiin sek\u00e4 keskiarvoihin. Lis\u00e4ksi k\u00e4ytettiin ristiintaulukointia, jolla selvitettiin taustakysymysten suhdetta vastauksissa n\u00e4ht\u00e4viin ilmi\u00f6ihin. \n\nTutkimuksessa saatiin selville, ett\u00e4 l\u00e4hes kaikki vastaajat raportoivat k\u00e4ytt\u00e4v\u00e4ns\u00e4 suullisia harjoituksia usein opetuksessa. Harjoitusten t\u00e4rkeimp\u00e4n\u00e4 ominaisuutena pidettiin selkeit\u00e4 ohjeita, ja vastaajat k\u00e4yttiv\u00e4t suullisia harjoituksia monipuolisissa konteksteissa.
