Tässä tutkielmassa analysoin kesällä 2016 GEM-TPC:llä GSI:ssä suoritettuja ilmaisintestimittauksia ROOT-ohjelmiston avulla. Alkuun kerron, miksi GEM-TPC-ilmaisin on lähdetty suunnittelemaan, minkälaisia mittauksia ja missä sillä on tarkoitus tehdä. Tutkielman loppupuolella analysoin testimittausten tuloksia. GSI:ssä GEM-TPC:tä testattiin Xe- ja C-suihkujen avulla. Tässä tutkielmassa perehdyn syvemmin C-suihkusta tehtyihin mittauksiin, mutta teen myös analyysin liittyen Xe-suihkulla tehtyyn mittaukseen. Tutkielmassa tekemäni analyysin perusteella ilmaisin näyttää toimivan hyvin ja se täyttää osan sille asetettuja vaatimuksia, kuten mittauksen suorittaminen vakaasti useiden päivien ajan, ilman, että sen läheisyyteen tarvitsee kenenkään mennä. Mittaustaajuuden kasvattaminen ilmaisimessa ei näytä vaikuttavan ilmaisimen toimintaan. Erilaisilla vahvistuksilla ja sähkökentillä ei myöskään tullut ilmi, mitään erityistä huomiota vaativaa asiaa. Analysoiduissa mittauksissa ei tosin käytetty mittaustaajuutena suurimpia taajuuksia, joilla ilmaisimen tulee pystyä operoimaan eikä suurimpia energioita, joilla ilmaisimen tulee pystyä mittaamaan. Näin ollen tulevaisuudessa tulee vielä suorittaa uusia ilmaisimen suorituskyvyn mittauksia mm. suuremmilla mittaustaajuuksilla ja energioilla, jotta voidaan varmistua ilmaisimen olevan kykenevä täyttämään kaikki sille asetetut vaatimukset. Data analysis of GEM-TPC detector test measurement The GEM-TPC detector is a gas filled particle detector capable of measuring very small electrical signals and their origin in the detector. These detectors will be used in the future for example in FAIR facility in the Super-FRS fragmentation separator. In this thesis, I analyze the measurements carried out by the GEM-TPC in GSI in the summer 2016 using the ROOT software. At first I will tell why the GEM-TPC detector is developed, what measurements and where it will be used. At the end of the thesis I analyze the results of the detector measurements. In GSI the GEM-TPC detector was tested using Xe and C beams. In this thesis, I’m going to study deeper into the C beam measurements, but at the end of the thesis I will also do an analysis of the Xe beam measurement. Based on my analysis in my thesis, the detector seems to work well and meets some of the requirements set for it, such as performing a measurement steadily for several days, without having to go anywhere near to it. Increasing the measurement frequency in the detector does not seem to affect the operation of the detector. Also, various reinforcements and electric fields did not reveal any special interest. Data analysis of GEM-TPC detector test measurement. The analyzed measurements were not used the highest frequencies and energies that the detector should be able to operate. Therefore, further measurements of the detector’s performance will still be required in the future, with higher frequencies and energies, to ensure that the detector is capable of meeting all of its requirements.
