Tarkastelen ty\u00f6ss\u00e4 tarkemmin nelj\u00e4n kahdeksasluokkalaisen internetiss\u00e4 tapahtuvaa tiedonhakuprosessia ja sen eri vaiheita.\r\n\r\nUsein nuorten ajatellaan olevan niin sanottuja diginatiiveja, jolloin heid\u00e4n ajatellaan olevan automaattisesti hyvi\u00e4 l\u00e4hes kaikessa internetiin ja teknologiaan liittyv\u00e4ss\u00e4 toiminnassa. On kuitenkin havaittu, ett\u00e4 nuoret n\u00e4ytt\u00e4v\u00e4t yliarvioivan omat lukemistaitonsa verkossa. Nykyisin tietoa on saatavilla verkossa ennenn\u00e4kem\u00e4tt\u00f6m\u00e4n paljon. Ongelma on kuitenkin siin\u00e4, ett\u00e4 verkossa tutkimustieto, kaupallinen tieto ja mielipiteet el\u00e4v\u00e4t sulassa sovussa, jolloin lukijan vastuulle j\u00e4\u00e4 m\u00e4\u00e4ritt\u00e4\u00e4, onko sivusto luotettava ja tarkoitukseen sopiva. T\u00e4st\u00e4 syyst\u00e4 on tarpeen selvitt\u00e4\u00e4, millaiset tiedonhakustrategiat yl\u00e4koululaisilla on k\u00e4yt\u00f6ss\u00e4\u00e4n. Hankin tutkimusongelmaan vas-tauksia seuraavien tutkimuskysymysten avulla: 1) Millaisia tiedonhakustrategioita yl\u00e4koululaiset k\u00e4ytt\u00e4v\u00e4t etsiess\u00e4\u00e4n tietoa internetiss\u00e4? 2a) Kuinka yl\u00e4koululaiset arvioivat internetist\u00e4 lukemaansa tietoa?\r\n\r\nTutkimukseni teoreettinen viitekehys perustuu ajatukseen uusista tekstitaidoista (New Literacies), jonka keskeisen\u00e4 n\u00e4k\u00f6kulmana on se, kuinka internet on vaikuttanut tekstitaitoihin. Teorian sis\u00e4ll\u00e4 on erityisesti l\u00e4hestytty verkkotiedonhakua ja luetun ymm\u00e4rt\u00e4mist\u00e4 (online research and comperehension) uudenlaisena tekstitaitona.\r\n\r\nOlen ker\u00e4nnyt aineistoni \u00e4\u00e4neenajattelumenetelm\u00e4n avulla. Tutkimukseen osallistuneet nelj\u00e4 kahdeksasluokkalaista oppilasta ajattelivat tutkimustilanteessa \u00e4\u00e4neen, samalla kun etsiv\u00e4t tietoa verkosta aiheesta netiketti. \u00c4\u00e4neenajattelun avulla saatiin tietoa tiedonhaun aikana oppilaassa her\u00e4\u00e4vist\u00e4 ajatuksista. Analysoin \u00e4\u00e4neenajattelut protokolla-analyysin avulla, jossa \u00e4\u00e4neenajattelut pilkottiin ja luokiteltiin eri kategorioihin.\r\n\r\nTutkimus osoitti, ett\u00e4 netiketti-aiheen vieraus ja abstrakti luonne hankaloittivat oppilaiden tiedonhakua. Oppilaat k\u00e4yttiv\u00e4t tiedonhakunsa tukena runsaasti erilaisia verkkosivuja hyv\u00e4kseen. Kaksi oppilasta sortui kuitenkin pienoiseen plagiointiin kirjoittaessaan esseet\u00e4 tai muistiinpanoja aiheesta. Oppilaat hy\u00f6dynsiv\u00e4t Googlen erilaisia hakutoimintoja taitavasti, mutta samalla vaikuttaa silt\u00e4, ett\u00e4 he eiv\u00e4t kykene juurikaan muodostamaan k\u00e4ytt\u00e4mi\u00e4\u00e4n hakusanoja itse. Tietoa kohdatessaan oppilaat arvioivat useimmiten tiedon relevanssia verkkosivun sis\u00e4ll\u00f6n perusteella. Tiedon uskottavuutta oppilaat arvioivat harvoin, mutta p\u00e4\u00e4asiassa ennakoivasti ennen verkkosivulle siirtymist\u00e4. Oppilailla oli erityisesti Wikipedian luotettavuuteen liittyvi\u00e4 negatiivisia ajatuksia valmiina etuk\u00e4teen. Oppilailla oli vaikeuksia kielent\u00e4\u00e4 verkkosivujen arviointiaan. Usein oppilaat vain toteavat sivuston tai sen tarjoaman sis\u00e4ll\u00f6n olevan hyv\u00e4\u00e4, mutta he eiv\u00e4t varsinaisesti osaa perustella arvioitaan.
