Lis\u00e4ksi tutkimme, miten yl\u00e4koululaiset viett\u00e4v\u00e4t v\u00e4lituntinsa, sek\u00e4 onko oppilaiden v\u00e4lituntiliikunta-aktiivisuudella yhteytt\u00e4 heid\u00e4n kouluviihtyvyyteens\u00e4. Tutkimuksen aineiston keruu on toteu-tettu osana Liikkuva koulu -ohjelmaa, ja siihen osallistuivat 7.\u20139. luokkien oppilaat seitsem\u00e4st\u00e4 koulusta. Tutkimus toteutettiin m\u00e4\u00e4r\u00e4llisen\u00e4 poikittaistutkimuksena. Oppilaat (n=893) vastasi-vat koulusta pit\u00e4mist\u00e4 ja v\u00e4lituntitoimia k\u00e4sitteleviin kysymyksiin kyselylomakkeelle vuonna 2015.\r\n\r\nTutkimusaineiston analysointiin k\u00e4ytimme SPSS statistics -ohjelmaa. Vertailimme v\u00e4litunti-toimien yhteyksi\u00e4 koulusta pit\u00e4miseen sukupuolten ja eri luokka-asteiden v\u00e4lill\u00e4. Aineistoa kuvailtiin frekvensseill\u00e4, prosenteilla ja keskiarvoilla. Keskiarvojen vertailuun k\u00e4ytettiin t-testi\u00e4 ja varianssianalyysia. \r\n\r\nTulosten mukaan koulusta pidettiin tilastollisesti merkitsev\u00e4sti enemm\u00e4n seitsem\u00e4nnell\u00e4 kuin yhdeks\u00e4nnell\u00e4 luokalla. Tytt\u00f6jen ja poikien v\u00e4lill\u00e4 ei ollut juurikaan eroja koulusta pit\u00e4misess\u00e4. V\u00e4litunnit p\u00e4\u00e4s\u00e4\u00e4nt\u00f6isesti sis\u00e4ll\u00e4 viett\u00e4vi\u00e4 oli selv\u00e4sti yli puolet yl\u00e4koulun oppilaista. Yleisin liikuntamuoto v\u00e4litunneilla oli k\u00e4vely, mutta kuormittavammista liikuntamuodoista yleisin oli palloilu. V\u00e4lituntiliikunta-aktiivisuus oli positiivisesti yhteydess\u00e4 koulusta pit\u00e4miseen ainoas-taan seitsem\u00e4nnen luokan tyt\u00f6ill\u00e4. Kahdeksannen luokan pojilla v\u00e4lituntiliikunta-aktiivisuus oli sit\u00e4 vastoin negatiivisesti yhteydess\u00e4 koulusta pit\u00e4miseen.\r\n\r\nYl\u00e4koululaisten kouluviihtyvyys oli melko hyv\u00e4ll\u00e4 tasolla aiempiin tutkimuksiin verrattuna, mutta viihtyvyys n\u00e4ytt\u00e4isi heikentyv\u00e4n seitsem\u00e4nnelt\u00e4 yhdeks\u00e4nnelle luokalle. V\u00e4lituntiliikun-ta-aktiivisuuden ja koulusta pit\u00e4misen yhteydet olivat jokseenkin ristiriitaisia, sill\u00e4 sek\u00e4 positii-visia ett\u00e4 negatiivisia korrelaatioita havaittiin. On hyv\u00e4 huomioida, ett\u00e4 v\u00e4lituntiliikunta on oppilaille vapaaehtoista, joten se tuskin itsess\u00e4\u00e4n on kouluviihtyvyytt\u00e4 heikent\u00e4v\u00e4 tekij\u00e4. Also we wanted to find out how upper comprehensive school students spend their recesses and if there is a link between physical activity at recess and school satisfaction. This study was a part of the \u2018Schools on the Move\u2019 project and the subjects were from grades sev-en to nine in seven different schools. This was a quantitative cross-section study. The students (n=893) answered the questions about school satisfaction and about their recess activities in a questionnaire in 2015. \r\n\r\nWe analyzed the data with the SPSS statistics program and compared the recess activities between school satisfaction and genders. The data were described mostly by frequencies, per-centages and means. The t-test and variance analysis were used to compare the means.\r\n\r\nThe study shows that school satisfaction is higher in seventh grade than in ninth grade. There were no significant differences in school satisfaction between genders. More than half of the upper comprehensive school students spent most of their recesses inside. Walking was the most common activity but ball games were the most common vigorous physical activity during recess. Only seventh grade girls had a positive link between school satisfaction and physical activity at recess. Boys from eighth grade had a weak negative correlation in physical activity during recess and school satisfaction. \r\n\r\nThe main conclusion of this study is that the school satisfaction of upper comprehensive stu-dents was pretty decent, at least compared to earlier studies, but the satisfaction seems to drop from seventh to ninth grade. The links between physical activity during recess and school sat-isfaction are at least unclear because there seemed to be both positive and negative correla-tions. It is good to remember that physical activities during recess are optional for students, so it is unlikely that one\u2019s school satisfaction suffers because of them. Still there are many other factors that cloud affect to school satisfaction and were not analyzed in this study.
