Jyv\u00e4skyl\u00e4n yliopisto, 132 s. \r\n\r\nTutkimuksen tarkoituksena oli tutkia hiiht\u00e4jien kokemuksia urheilulukion k\u00e4ymisest\u00e4, siell\u00e4 opiskelemisesta ja urheilemisesta. Tavoitteena oli my\u00f6s selvitt\u00e4\u00e4, miten urheilulukioiden toi-mintaa voisi kehitt\u00e4\u00e4 entist\u00e4 paremmaksi. Tutkimus toteutettiin fenomenologis-hermeneuttisena haastattelututkimuksena. Koehenkil\u00f6in\u00e4 tutkimuksessa oli 23 urheilulukion k\u00e4ynytt\u00e4 hiiht\u00e4j\u00e4\u00e4 ymp\u00e4ri Suomen. Hiiht\u00e4j\u00e4t olivat tasoltaan kaikki v\u00e4hint\u00e4\u00e4n hyvi\u00e4 kansalli-sen tason hiiht\u00e4ji\u00e4, sen lis\u00e4ksi joukossa oli muutama A-maajoukkuehiiht\u00e4j\u00e4 sek\u00e4 yksi maail-manmestari. Aineisto ker\u00e4ttiin v\u00e4lill\u00e4 kes\u00e4- syyskuu vuonna 2015, ja aineiston analysointi tapahtui aineistol\u00e4ht\u00f6isesti. Tulkinnassa pyrittiin l\u00f6yt\u00e4m\u00e4\u00e4n tiedostettuja ja tiedostamattomia syit\u00e4 sille, miksi toiset hiiht\u00e4jist\u00e4 olivat onnistuneet urheilulukiovuosinaan menestym\u00e4\u00e4n sek\u00e4 hiihdossa ett\u00e4 opinnoissa, ja miksi taas toisilta se ei ollut onnistunut. Lis\u00e4ksi syit\u00e4 pyrittiin l\u00f6yt\u00e4m\u00e4\u00e4n sille, mitk\u00e4 tekij\u00e4t tekiv\u00e4t urheilulukiosta t\u00e4ydellisen urheilijan polun lukiosta kan-sainv\u00e4liselle hiihdon huipulle. Tulkinnan palasista pyrittiin rakentamaan kertomus siit\u00e4, mit\u00e4 hiiht\u00e4j\u00e4t ovat urheilulukiossa kokeneet, ja mitk\u00e4 tekij\u00e4t sek\u00e4 hiiht\u00e4j\u00e4ss\u00e4 itsess\u00e4\u00e4n ett\u00e4 urheilu-lukiossa ymp\u00e4rist\u00f6n\u00e4 ovat kokemukseen eniten vaikuttaneet. Hiiht\u00e4jien yksil\u00f6llisten koke-musten pohjalta pyrittiin rakentamaan ehdotuksia siit\u00e4, miten urheilulukioita ja niiden toimin-taa voisi jatkossa kehitt\u00e4\u00e4. Tulkintaa pyrittiin syvent\u00e4m\u00e4\u00e4n useiden eri teorioiden avulla. \r\n\r\nTutkimuksessa urheilulukio ja siell\u00e4 opiskelu koettiin hyvin eri tavoin, ja kokemukset vaihte-livat hiiht\u00e4jien kesken hyvin paljon, vaikka he olisivat k\u00e4yneet samaa lukiota ja samaan ai-kaan. Keskeisimmiksi tekij\u00f6iksi hiiht\u00e4jien kokemuksien pohjalta esiin nousivat omat luon-teenpiirteet ja motivaatiotekij\u00e4t kuten tavoiteorientaatio. T\u00e4m\u00e4n lis\u00e4ksi isoon rooliin nousivat kodin tuki ja sosiaalinen tukiverkosto, oma nuoruusi\u00e4n kehitys suhteessa nykylukion haastei-siin sek\u00e4 urheilun asema ja merkitys omassa el\u00e4m\u00e4ss\u00e4. Haasteiksi havaittiin muun muassa se, ett\u00e4 miten kilpailusuuntautuneessa ymp\u00e4rist\u00f6ss\u00e4 kuten urheilulukiossa voidaan tukea opiskeli-jan tavoiteorientaation kehittymist\u00e4, ja miten nuoria urheilijoita voidaan auttaa yhdist\u00e4m\u00e4\u00e4n opiskelu ja urheilu siten, ett\u00e4 ne tukevat toisiaan. Lis\u00e4ksi tutkimuksessa nousi esiin henkil\u00f6-kohtaisten luoteenpiirteiden ja kotikasvatuksen merkitys ja se, miten isoa roolia ne todellisuu-dessa n\u00e4yttelev\u00e4tk\u00e4\u00e4n menestyv\u00e4n urheilijan taipaleella. \r\n\r\nTutkimus osoitti, ett\u00e4 vaikka nykyp\u00e4iv\u00e4n\u00e4 urheilulukiot toimivat eri selvitysten mukaan hyvin, ei niiden teht\u00e4v\u00e4 ole helppo. Nuoret urheilijat tulevat lukioihin hyvin eri l\u00e4ht\u00f6tilanteista ja erilaisissa kehitysvaiheissa, ja koulun tulisi pysty\u00e4 tukemaan heit\u00e4 sek\u00e4 opiskelussa ett\u00e4 urhei-lussa, sek\u00e4 kasvattamaan heit\u00e4 kokonaisvaltaisesti. University of Jyv\u00e4skyl\u00e4, 132 pp. \r\n\r\nThe aim of the study was to examine cross-country skiers\u2019 experiences of sport high schools and how it was to study and train in sport high schools in the 21-century. In addition, the aim was to find out how sport high schools could be developed. The study was carried out as in-terviews based and hermeneutic phenomenological approach was used. 23 cross-country ski-ers who had studied in different sport high schools around the country were interviewed for this study. All the members were skiing moderate or higher on the national level. Two of the cross-country skiers were in the national A-team and one interviewee was a world champion. The data was gathered between June 2015 and September 2015. The analysis of the material was data driven. The purpose of interpreting the data was to find out the prevailing conscious and subconscious reasons of the cross-country skiers\u2019 experiences about sport high schools, and further explain why some of them managed to succeed in both skiing and studying, and some of them did not. Second question was to get to know why sport high school was a per-fect athlete\u2019s path to some of the cross-country skiers but not for all. Various theories con-cerning sport, education and development were used to help to deepen the interpretation.\r\n\r\nIn this study cross-country skiers\u2019 experiences of sport high schools varied a lot. The most important thing that seemed to affect in the cross-country skiers\u2019 experiences was their abili-ties such as motivation, personality traits and capability to take care of their own lives. Other important thing seemed to be cross-country skiers\u2019 social support and how big role sport played in their lives. Based on this study, the challenges in sport highs schools seemed to be that how a sport high school can support their athletes to combine both sport and studying, and how they can take care of their athletes as individuals who have different kinds of needs. This study showed that cross-country skiers\u2019 social background such as home and parents played a big role in the athlete\u2019s pathway towards professional career.\r\n\r\nBased on various researches, sport high schools are functioning rather well these days. As this study showed, sport high schools\u2019 task is not easy. Sport high schools have to be ready to support and help young athletes coming to school with different kind of properties and capa-bilities.
