Kasvatustieteen pro gradu -tutkielma. 105 s. ja 5 liitett\u00e4.\r\nTarkasteltaessa kansallisten sek\u00e4 kansainv\u00e4listen matematiikan oppimiseen liittyvien tutkimusten tuloksia on todettu, ett\u00e4 oppilaiden asenne matematiikkaa kohtaan on heikentynyt Suomessa 2000-luvulla. Yhten\u00e4 ratkaisuna asenteiden muuttamiseen on n\u00e4hty pelien ja pelillisyyden tuominen osaksi matematiikan opetusta. Tutkimuksen tavoitteena oli tutkia opettajien k\u00e4sityksi\u00e4 pelillisyydest\u00e4 ja sit\u00e4, millaisia vaikutuksia pelillisyyden toteuttamisella oli heid\u00e4n pedagogiikkaansa sek\u00e4 toimintatapoihinsa. Lis\u00e4ksi tarkasteltiin, millaisia vaikutuksia pelillisyydell\u00e4 oli matematiikan oppimiseen oppilaiden n\u00e4k\u00f6kulmasta.\r\nTutkimusote oli fenomenologis-hermeneuttinen. Tutkimusjoukko muodostui kolmesta kuudennen luokan luokanopettajasta ja heid\u00e4n oppilaistaan, joita oli yhteens\u00e4 38. Aineistonkeruumenetelmin\u00e4 k\u00e4ytettiin puolistrukturoitua kyselylo-maketta, s\u00e4hk\u00f6ist\u00e4 puolistrukturoitua kyselylomaketta ja ryhm\u00e4haastattelua. Aineiston analyysi tehtiin hermeneuttisen keh\u00e4n sek\u00e4 fenomenologis-hermeneuttisen analyysin avulla. Analyysin pohjalta rakentui seitsem\u00e4n merki-tyskokonaisuutta. \r\nTutkimus osoitti, ett\u00e4 opettajien n\u00e4kemykset pelillisyydest\u00e4 olivat dynaamisia, kuten koko pelillisen oppimisen kentt\u00e4 on viel\u00e4 t\u00e4ll\u00e4 hetkell\u00e4. Pelillisyytt\u00e4 osana matematiikan opetusta on haasteellista toteuttaa kaikessa siin\u00e4 laajuudessa, jota termi pedagogisesta n\u00e4k\u00f6kulmasta tarkoittaa. Tutkimuksen perusteella voidaan p\u00e4\u00e4tell\u00e4, ett\u00e4 matematiikan ja pelillisyyden yhdist\u00e4misess\u00e4 on otettava huomioon muun muassa pelillisyyden teoreettinen viitekehys, oppilaiden sitouttaminen ja motivointi, pelillisyyden monipuolinen toteuttaminen, oppimispelien sis\u00e4lt\u00f6jen tunteminen ja opettajan kokonaisvaltainen rooli pelaamisessa. Lis\u00e4ksi tutkimus osoitti, ett\u00e4 pelillisyys lis\u00e4si hauskuutta matematiikan oppimiseen, mutta oppilaiden motivaatio ei noussut odotetulla tavalla. Master\u2019s thesis in education. 105 pages, 5 appendices.\r\nThe results of national and international research on learning mathematics show that in Finland the pupils\u2019 attitudes toward mathematics has declined during the 21st century. Introducing games and gamification in teaching mathematics has been suggested as a possible solution to shifting the attitudes. The objective of this research was to study teachers\u2019 views on gamification and the possible effects implementing gamification may have in their teaching and their working methods. Additionally, we studied how the pupils viewed the effects of gamification on their learning of mathematics. \r\nOur research method was hermeneutic phenomenological. The research group comprised of three 6th-grade teachers and their 38 students. The methods used in the data collection were semi-structured questionnaire forms, online semi-structured questionnaire forms and group interviews. The data analysis was conducted by using the hermeneutical circle and a hermeneutic phenomenological analysis. On the basis of the analysis, we compiled seven meaning categories. \r\nThe research showed that the teachers\u2019 views on gamification were dynamic \u2013 as is the whole field of learning through gamification at the moment. Implementing gamification as part of teaching mathematics as broadly as it is viewed from the educational point of view presents a challenge. On the basis of this research, we concluded that the theoretical frame of reference of gamification, commitment and motivation of pupils, versatile actualization of gamification, knowledge of the contents of learning games, and overall role of the teacher in the playing need to be taken into account when combining mathematics and gamification. Moreover, the research showed that whereas gamification increased the level of fun experienced in learning mathematics, it did not, however, increase the pupils\u2019 level of motivation in the way we had anticipated.
