Tutkimuksessa vertailtiin koululiikuntaan my\u00f6nteisesti ja kielteisesti suhtautuvia oppilaita fyysisen aktiivisuuden, kunto- ja taitotekij\u00f6iden, oppiaineen koetun osaamisen ja hy\u00f6dyllisyyden sek\u00e4 koulumy\u00f6nteisyyden ja -menestyksen osalta. Lis\u00e4ksi tutkittiin, miten erilaiset oppilastekij\u00e4t selitt\u00e4v\u00e4t my\u00f6nteist\u00e4 koululiikuntaan suhtautumista yhdeks\u00e4sluokkalaisilla pojilla ja tyt\u00f6ill\u00e4.\r\n\r\nTutkimuksen kohdejoukkona olivat peruskoulun yhdeks\u00e4sluokkalaiset. Aineistona k\u00e4ytettiin \u201dLiikunnan oppimistulosten seuranta-arviointi perusopetuksessa 2010 \u201d -tutkimuksessa ker\u00e4tty\u00e4 oppilasaineistoa, johon sis\u00e4ltyi oppilaskysely sek\u00e4 kunto- ja liikehallintatestien tulokset. Opetushallituksen tekem\u00e4\u00e4n otokseen kuului 51 koulua, jotka edustivat maata kooltaan, alueellisesti sek\u00e4 kunta- ja kieliryhmitt\u00e4in. Oppilaskyselyyn vastasi 1619 oppilasta, joista poikia oli 819 ja tytt\u00f6j\u00e4 800. Kunto- ja liikehallintatesteihin osallistui 1405 oppilasta. Muuttujien yhteyksi\u00e4 koululiikuntaan suhtautumiseen tarkasteltiin t-testin, ristiintaulukoinnin ja Khiin- neli\u00f6testin avulla. Bin\u00e4\u00e4risell\u00e4 logistisella regressioanalyysilla selvitettiin sit\u00e4, miten muuttujat selitt\u00e4v\u00e4t my\u00f6nteist\u00e4 koululiikuntaan suhtautumista.\r\n\r\nKoululiikuntaan my\u00f6nteisesti ja kielteisesti suhtautuvat oppilaat erosivat fyysisen aktiivisuuden, kest\u00e4vyys- ja lihaskunnon, liikuntataitojen, koetun liikunnan osaamisen ja oppiaineen hy\u00f6dyllisyyden sek\u00e4 koulunk\u00e4yntiin suhtautumisen ja liikunnan arvosanan osalta. Koululiikuntaan my\u00f6nteisesti suhtautuvat oppilaat olivat fyysisesti aktiivisempia, heid\u00e4n kest\u00e4vyys- ja lihaskunto sek\u00e4 liikuntataidot olivat paremmat, he kokivat oppiaineen hy\u00f6dyn ja oman osaamisensa vahvempana, saivat liikunnasta parempia arvosanoja sek\u00e4 suhtautuivat koulunk\u00e4yntiin yleisesti my\u00f6nteisemmin kuin koululiikuntaan kielteisesti suhtautuvat oppilaat. Painoindeksi ja koulumenestys eiv\u00e4t eronneet koululiikuntaan my\u00f6nteisesti ja kielteisesti suhtautuvilla oppilailla. Korkea koettu osaaminen ja oppiaineen hy\u00f6dyllisyys, my\u00f6nteinen suhtautuminen kouluun sek\u00e4 korkea liikunnan arvosana lis\u00e4siv\u00e4t sek\u00e4 pojilla ett\u00e4 tyt\u00f6ill\u00e4 todenn\u00e4k\u00f6isyytt\u00e4 suhtautua koululiikuntaan my\u00f6nteisesti. Lis\u00e4ksi omatoimisen liikunnan harrastaminen selitti my\u00f6nteist\u00e4 koululiikuntaan suhtautumista tyt\u00f6ill\u00e4.\r\n\r\nKoululiikunnassa on t\u00e4rke\u00e4\u00e4 vahvistaa oppilaiden p\u00e4tevyydenkokemuksia. Etenkin koululiikuntaan kielteisesti suhtautuvat tyt\u00f6t kokevat osaamisensa liikunnassa heikoksi. Liikunnan kokeminen hy\u00f6dylliseksi on vahvasti yhteydess\u00e4 my\u00f6nteiseen koululiikuntaan suhtautumiseen. Students with positive and negative attitude towards PE were compared according to their physical activity, physical fitness and motor skills, perceived competence and usefulness of PE as well as academic achievement and attitude towards going to school. In addition, the purpose of this study was to examine how different student-related factors might explain positive attitude towards PE.\r\n\r\nThe data used in this study were from a follow-up evaluation of physical education learning outcomes, which was conducted in 2010. A total of 1619 ninth grade students (819 boys, 800 girls) from 51 Finnish comprehensive schools completed the student questionnaire. Of the respondents, 1 405 pupils also took part in a fitness test. The associations between different factors and attitude towards PE were analyzed by t-test, cross-tabulations and chi square test. The factors that might explain positive attitude towards PE were analyzed by the logistic re-gression.\r\n\r\nThere was a difference in physical activity, aerobic and muscular fitness, motor skills, perceived competence and usefulness of PE as well as attitude towards going to school and PE grade in students with positive and negative attitude towards PE. The students liking PE were physically more active, they had better aerobic and muscular fitness as well as motor skills, higher perceived competence and usefulness of PE, better grades in PE and more positive attitude towards going to school than students disliking PE. However, there was no difference in BMI or academic achievement in students with different attitudes towards PE. High perceived competence and usefulness of PE as well as positive attitude towards going to school and high grade in PE increased the likelihood of having a positive attitude towards PE. Furthermore, physical activity in independent settings increased the likelihood of having a positive attitude towards PE in girls.\r\n\r\nIt is important to enhance adolescents\u2019 perceived competence in PE. Especially girls that have negative attitude towards PE have low perceived competence. The perceived benefits of PE are strongly associated with positive attitude. Physical activity and its significance should be related to pupils\u2019 daily routines.
