Markkinoijien ja liiketoiminnan kannalta on\nehdottoman t\u00e4rke\u00e4\u00e4 ymm\u00e4rt\u00e4\u00e4, miten kuluttajat toimivat nykyaikaisessa markkinaymp\u00e4rist\u00f6ss\u00e4.\nTutkielman tarkoituksena on tutkia kauppapaikkojen digitalisoitumisen\nvaikutusta kuluttajien ostok\u00e4ytt\u00e4ytymiseen. Aihe on rajattu koskemaan\nerityisesti kauneus- ja terveystuotteita koskevaa ostok\u00e4ytt\u00e4ytymist\u00e4.\nTutkielman p\u00e4\u00e4paino on rationaalisen ostop\u00e4\u00e4t\u00f6sprosessin tarkastelussa, mutta\nmy\u00f6s impulsiivinen ostok\u00e4ytt\u00e4ytyminen on otettu huomioon.\nL\u00e4ht\u00f6kohtaisesti voidaan olettaa, ettei perinteist\u00e4 kuluttajak\u00e4ytt\u00e4ytymisen tutkimusta\nvoida suoraan soveltaa s\u00e4hk\u00f6iseen ostoymp\u00e4rist\u00f6\u00f6n. Aihealueen viimeaikainen\ntutkimus on pyrkinyt internetiss\u00e4 esiintyv\u00e4n ostok\u00e4ytt\u00e4ytymisen\nmallintamiseen, mutta siit\u00e4 huolimatta yhten\u00e4inen teoreettinen pohja puuttuu.\nT\u00e4ss\u00e4 tutkielmassa aihetta l\u00e4hestyt\u00e4\u00e4n sek\u00e4 aiemman kirjallisuuden ett\u00e4 empiirisen\ntutkimuksen avulla. Teoriaosuus on toteutettu kirjallisuuskatsauksena,\njonka merkitt\u00e4vimpin\u00e4 l\u00e4htein\u00e4 toimivat kuluttajatutkimuksen arvostettu kirjallisuus\nsek\u00e4 s\u00e4hk\u00f6ist\u00e4 ostamista k\u00e4sittelev\u00e4t julkaisut. Empiirinen osuus on rajattu\nk\u00e4sittelem\u00e4\u00e4n erityisesti kauneus- ja terveystuotteisiin liittyv\u00e4\u00e4 ostok\u00e4ytt\u00e4ytymist\u00e4.\nAineistonkeruumenetelm\u00e4n\u00e4 k\u00e4ytettiin teemahaastatteluita.\nEmpiirisen tutkimuksen tulokset tukevat suurelta osin jo aiemmasta kirjallisuudesta\nnostettuja digitalisoitumisesta johtuvia erityispiirteit\u00e4 kuluttajien ostok\u00e4ytt\u00e4ytymisess\u00e4.\nKauneus- ja terveystuotteiden kohdalla verkon vaikutus\nn\u00e4kyy eritoten ostok\u00e4ytt\u00e4ytymisen j\u00e4rkiper\u00e4isyydess\u00e4 ja harkinnanalaisuudessa.\nTutkimuksen mukaan kuluttajat seuraavat my\u00f6s verkko-ostoissa perinteisen\nmallin mukaista rationaalista ostop\u00e4\u00e4t\u00f6sprosessia, joka kulkee alkuper\u00e4isen\ntarpeen tunnistamisesta aina oston j\u00e4lkeiseen k\u00e4ytt\u00e4ytymiseen. Digitalisoitumisen\nvaikutukset voidaan kuitenkin n\u00e4hd\u00e4 prosessin eri vaiheiden sis\u00e4ll\u00e4, kuten\nk\u00e4ytetyiss\u00e4 tiedonl\u00e4hteiss\u00e4 ja suusanallisen viestinn\u00e4n merkityksess\u00e4. It is highly important in terms of business for marketers to understand\nhow consumers behave in the modern marketplace. The purpose of this thesis is\nto examine how the digitalization of marketplace affects consumers\u2019 buying\nbehaviour, especially in the case of beauty and health products. The main focus\nis put on the rational buying decision process, but also impulsive buying behaviour\nhas been taken into account.\nIt is reasonable to assume that the studies of consumer behaviour in the traditional\nmarketplace can\u2019t be directly transferred to the online environment.\nMany researchers have been trying to conceptualize the online buying behaviour\nbut the field of study still lacks a coherent theoretical model. In this research\nthe topic is approached in the light of former literature, which is supplemented\nwith an empirical study. The theoretical part is executed as a literature\nreview from distinguished literature concerning consumer behaviour and\nrecent studies of online buying. The empirical part concentrates especially to\nexamine the phenomenon in the light of beauty and health products. The material\nhas been collected with thematic interviews.\nThe results from the empirical study are mostly consistent with the former literature\nconcerning the special characteristics of online consumer buying behaviour.\nIn the context of beauty and health products the digitalization can be seen\naffecting especially to the time and thought spent on purchases \u2013 the buying\nprocess is clearly more discretionary and rational. The study also shows that\nconsumers mostly follow the rational five-stage buying decision model also in\nthe online environment. The model proceeds from the initial need to the postpurchase\nbehaviour. The influence of digitalization can yet be seen inside the\ndifferent stages of the process, for example in the information sources and in\nthe significant role of word-of-mouth.
