Det huvudsakliga syftet med studien \u00e4r att b\u00e4ttre f\u00f6rst\u00e5 den komplexa interaktionen mellan inl\u00e4rare och l\u00e4rare i spr\u00e5kklassen. Ett annat syfte utg\u00f6rs av en \u00f6nskan att utveckla kurserna i franska vid yrkesh\u00f6gskolan Arcada. Inl\u00e4rarna utgjordes av vuxna yrkesh\u00f6gskolestuderande och spr\u00e5ket som studerades var fritt valbart. I studien kartlades 108 studenters \u00e5sikter om olika ramfaktorers inverkan p\u00e5 l\u00e4rmilj\u00f6n och l\u00e4rprocessen. Begreppet ramfaktorer syftar p\u00e5 faktorer som antingen direkt eller indirekt inverkar p\u00e5 l\u00e4rprocessen.\r\nEtt av syftena med unders\u00f6kningen var att f\u00f6rs\u00f6ka identifiera faktorer som l\u00e4raren kan inverka p\u00e5. Bland de faktorer som behandlades i studien \u00e5terfinns tidsfaktorer, kursinneh\u00e5ll, undervisningsmetoder (bland annat kollaborativ dialog) och motivation. Studiens empiri samlades in genom enk\u00e4ter och intervjuer med \u00f6ppna fr\u00e5gor; dessutom ingick utdrag ur studenternas logg- och arbetsb\u00f6cker samt l\u00e4rarens reflektioner \u00f6ver l\u00e4rande och klassrumsinteraktionen.\r\nStudien antyder att involverandet av studenterna i m\u00e5luppg\u00f6rande, planering av kursens inneh\u00e5ll, kursutv\u00e4rdering och sj\u00e4lvv\u00e4rdering \u00f6kar studenternas motivation och st\u00f6der dem till att bli autonoma inl\u00e4rare med ansvar f\u00f6r sitt l\u00e4rande. Det emotionella klassrumsklimatet verkar vara en avg\u00f6rande faktor med tanke p\u00e5 l\u00e4rande och engagemang i en yrkes-h\u00f6gskolekontext; en avslappnad, varm, icke-hotfull l\u00e4rmilj\u00f6 st\u00f6der l\u00e4randet. Ett s\u00e4tt att skapa en dylik atmosf\u00e4r kunde vara genom att engagera akt\u00f6rerna i autentiska dialoger i l\u00e4rmilj\u00f6n. The overall aim of the study is to contribute to a deeper understanding of the complex interactions between the students and the teacher which occur in the language classroom, with the ultimate goal of developing the French courses at Arcada - University of Applied Sciences. 108 students who had participated in French courses at Arcada were approached in order to gain insight into their perceptions about the impact of different frame factors on the teaching - learning environment and the learning process.\r\nThe concept of frame factors refers to elements which directly or indirectly have an impact on the learning process. Many of the frame factors are beyond the control of the teacher, but one of the aims of the study was to try to identify factors that can be changed. The frame factors discussed in this study include time factors, curriculum factors, teaching methods (e. g. collaborative dialogue) and student motivation.\r\nThe empirical data for the study, which has a qualitative approach, were collected through questionnaires, open-ended and semi-structured interviews, extracts from students\u2019 logbooks and the teacher\u2019s diary notes based on observation in class.\r\nThis study indicates that involving the students in goal-setting, planning of the curriculum, course and self-evaluation enhances the students\u2019 will to learn and helps them become autonomous learners responsible for their own learning. But one of the most crucial factors for enhancing student motivation and commitment to learn appeared to be the classroom atmosphere; the quality of life in a language classroom can be improved by creating an atmosphere which is relaxed, non-threatening and warm; a context where participants are allowed to make mistakes. One way of creating such an atmosphere could be by trying to engage in authentic dialogue in the language classroom.
