Virheiden tekemiseen vieraan kielen opiskelussa liittyy oleellisena osana opettajan oppijoille antama korjaava palaute (corrective feedback). Opettajan ja oppilaan vuorovaikutuksen, jota korjaava palaute osaltaan edustaa, on kuitenkin todettu voivan aiheuttaa oppijoissa ahdistuneisuutta ja pelkoa (anxiety). T\u00e4ss\u00e4 tutkielmassa kartoitetaan, millaisia suullisia virheit\u00e4 suomalaiset yhdeks\u00e4sluokkalaiset englannin kielen oppitunneilla tekev\u00e4t ja miten noloina he niit\u00e4 pit\u00e4v\u00e4t. Tarkoituksena on my\u00f6s selvitt\u00e4\u00e4, miten he suhtautuvat tekemiins\u00e4 suullisiin virheisiin ja niihin liittyv\u00e4\u00e4n opettajan korjaavaan palautteeseen. Tutkimuksessa keskityt\u00e4\u00e4n erityisesti siihen, kokevatko yhdeks\u00e4sluokkalaiset virheet, korjaavan palautteen ja niihin liittyv\u00e4t kommunikaatiotilanteet ahdistavina ja pelottavina. Tutkimukseen osallistui 100 yhdeks\u00e4sluokkalaista, joiden mielipiteit\u00e4 kartoitettiin kirjallisen kyselyn avulla.\n\nTutkimuksen tulokset osoittavat, ett\u00e4 83 % vastaajista kokee suullisten virheiden tekemisen luokkatilanteessa ahdistavana, vaikkakin enemmist\u00f6ll\u00e4 heist\u00e4 (91 %) ahdistusta esiintyy harvoin tai silloin t\u00e4ll\u00f6in. Erityisen ahdistaviksi virheet koetaan opettajan l\u00e4sn\u00e4 ollessa, kun taas pari- ja ryhm\u00e4ty\u00f6tilanteissa ahdistusta esiintyy v\u00e4hemm\u00e4n. Yleisimm\u00e4t syyt virheiden ahdistavuuteen liittyiv\u00e4t muihin oppilaisiin (nolous, nauraminen, kommentointi) tai opettajaan (arvosanan laskeminen, opettajan ajatukset). L\u00e4hes kaikki vastaajat (98%) kuitenkin mielt\u00e4v\u00e4t virheet hy\u00f6dyllisiksi ja oppimista edist\u00e4viksi. Korjaavaa palautetta opettajalta toivoo aina tai usein 56 % vastaajista, vaikkakin 80 % vastaajista kokee palautteen hy\u00f6dylliseksi aina tai usein. Opettajan tuleekin kiinnitt\u00e4\u00e4 huomiota valitsemiinsa korjaamisstrategioihin, sill\u00e4 toiset strategiat (elicitation) koettiin huomattavasti ahdistavampina kuin toiset (metalinguistic feedback), mik\u00e4 voi osaltaan vaikuttaa siihen, ett\u00e4 oppilaat eiv\u00e4t halua korjaavaa palautetta, vaikka mielt\u00e4v\u00e4tkin sen hy\u00f6dylliseksi.\n\nVaikka tutkimuksen aineisto on pienehk\u00f6, sen tulokset tarjoavat tuoretta tietoa suomalaisten kielenoppijoiden ahdistuneisuudesta ja suhtautumisesta virheisiin ja korjaavaan palautteeseen.
