Tutkin, mitk\u00e4 kielellis-kognitiiviset taustataidot ovat\r\nyhteydess\u00e4 peliharjoittelussa edistymiseen ja lukitaitoihin. Tutkimuksen tavoite oli selvitt\u00e4\u00e4,\r\nmillainen kielellis-kognitiivinen profiili on hitaasti edistyvill\u00e4 pelaajilla verrattuna normaalisti\r\nedistyviin. Lis\u00e4ksi tutkin, onko alkuvaiheen pelaamisen hitaalla edistymisell\u00e4 eli heikolla\r\ninterventiovasteella yhteytt\u00e4 lukutaidon kehityksen pulmiin.\r\nTutkimukseen osallistui 89 ensimm\u00e4isen luokan oppilasta ymp\u00e4ri Suomea. Kielelliskognitiivisten\r\ntaitojen sek\u00e4 lukitaitojen mittauksia tehtiin ensimm\u00e4isen luokan alussa,\r\nsyyslukukauden lopussa sek\u00e4 ensimm\u00e4isen luokan kev\u00e4\u00e4ll\u00e4. Tutkimukseen valittiin muuttujia\r\npelin ensimm\u00e4isist\u00e4 25:st\u00e4 pelikent\u00e4st\u00e4. Korrelaatiotarkastelujen perusteella kirjaintuntemus ja\r\nfonologinen tietoisuus olivat voimakkaimmin yhteydess\u00e4 Ekapeliss\u00e4 edistymiseen. Ekapeliss\u00e4\r\nsanojen tunnistaminen ennakoi parhaiten lukutaidon tasoa kev\u00e4\u00e4ll\u00e4. Pelaajat jaettiin hitaisiin\r\npelaajiin (30%) ja Ekapeli-edistyjiin (70%) Ekapelin kirjain-, tavu- ja sanatasolla edistymisen\r\nperusteella. Mann-Whitneyn U-testien mukaan hitailla pelaajilla oli heikommat l\u00e4ht\u00f6taidot\r\nfonologisessa tietoisuudessa, kirjaintuntemuksessa ja nopeassa nime\u00e4misess\u00e4.\r\nKuvaajatarkastelun perusteella hitaiden pelaajien ongelmat paikantuivat Ekapelin mekaanisen\r\nlukemisen harjoituksiin. Alkuvaiheen hitaudesta huolimatta hitaat pelaajat saavuttivat ryhm\u00e4n\u00e4\r\nnormaalisti edistyv\u00e4t pelaajat lukitaidoissa kev\u00e4\u00e4seen menness\u00e4. Yhten\u00e4 selitt\u00e4j\u00e4n\u00e4 voi pit\u00e4\u00e4\r\nhitaiden pelaajien huomattavasti pidemp\u00e4\u00e4 harjoitteluaikaa. Ne pelaajat, joilla oli koulun\r\nalkaessa heikoin fonologinen tietoisuus ja/tai kirjaintuntemus, olivat lukitaidoissa j\u00e4ljess\u00e4 viel\u00e4\r\nensimm\u00e4isen luokan kev\u00e4\u00e4ll\u00e4. N\u00e4m\u00e4kin oppilaat edistyiv\u00e4t seuranta-aikana selv\u00e4sti erityisesti\r\nkirjoitustaidossa, mutta pelaaminen ei riitt\u00e4nyt kuromaan kiinni alhaisen l\u00e4ht\u00f6tason vaikutusta.\r\nTutkimuksen perusteella lukemisen pulmia on ennakoitavissa, jos oppilas ei ole edennyt\r\ntavujen ja sanojen tunnistamisessa pelattuaan Ekapeli\u00e4 noin puoli tuntia. Tutkimus osoitti, ett\u00e4\r\netenkin tuolloin peliharjoittelua kannattaa jatkaa.
