Pelaamisesta tulee ongelmape-laamista sen ylitt\u00e4ess\u00e4 30 h/ viikossa mink\u00e4 tuntim\u00e4\u00e4r\u00e4n ylittymisen j\u00e4lkeen ongelmien to-denn\u00e4k\u00f6isyys pelaamisen m\u00e4\u00e4r\u00e4n takia lis\u00e4\u00e4ntyy tai sen ollessa intensiteelt\u00e4\u00e4n pelaamisen uppoutumista ja kiinnostuksen v\u00e4henemisen\u00e4 muihin harrastuksiin. Ongelmapelaamisen yhteytt\u00e4 ty\u00f6kykyyn yli 40- vuotiailla on tutkittu v\u00e4h\u00e4n. Ty\u00f6kyky muodostuu ty\u00f6n vaatimuk-sista ja omista resursseista. T\u00e4m\u00e4n pro gradu- tutkielman tarkoituksena oli selvitt\u00e4\u00e4 itsekoetun ty\u00f6kyvyn yhteytt\u00e4 ongelmapelaamiseen ja tarkastella selitt\u00e4\u00e4k\u00f6 itsearvioitu psyykkinen terveys ongelmapelaamisen ja ty\u00f6kyvyn yhteytt\u00e4.\n\nT\u00e4ss\u00e4 tutkimuksessa k\u00e4ytettiin poikkileikkaus tutkimuksen aineistoa, jossa tutkittiin suomalaista ty\u00f6ik\u00e4ist\u00e4 ty\u00f6v\u00e4est\u00f6\u00e4 (N= 8000) kyselytutkimuksen avulla (ik\u00e4 18\u201365-vuotiaita). Digi-pelaamiseen k\u00e4ytetty\u00e4 aikaa kartoitettiin kysym\u00e4ll\u00e4 muun muassa viikoittaisia pelim\u00e4\u00e4ri\u00e4 tietokoneella, konsolilla ja \u00e4lylaitteilla. T\u00e4m\u00e4n pro gradun tutkimusaineisto muodostui 2268 tutkittavasta, jotka olivat ansioty\u00f6ss\u00e4 olevia ja joiden ik\u00e4 oli yli 40 vuotta. Alkuper\u00e4isest\u00e4 aineistosta suljettiin pois vastaajat, jotka ilmoittivat olevansa ty\u00f6el\u00e4m\u00e4n ulkopuolella sek\u00e4 alle 40-vuotiaita. Ongelmapelaamista kartoitettiin ongelmapelaamista mittaavalla Game Addiction Scale-7 (GAS7) mittarilla. Lis\u00e4ksi kartoitettiin osallistujien itsekoettua ty\u00f6kyky\u00e4 ja itsekoettua psyykkist\u00e4 terveytt\u00e4 (mieliala, masennusoireet) sek\u00e4 ik\u00e4 ja sukupuoli.\n\n\nT\u00e4m\u00e4n tutkielman perusteella ongelmapelaaminen oli yhteydess\u00e4 itsekoettuun ty\u00f6kykyyn keski-ik\u00e4isill\u00e4 ja sit\u00e4 vanhemmilla ty\u00f6ss\u00e4 k\u00e4yvill\u00e4 henkil\u00f6ill\u00e4. Tuloksen mukaan ongelmapelaaminen heikent\u00e4\u00e4 itsekoettua ty\u00f6kyky\u00e4 -1,4 kertaisesti suhteessa itsekoetun ty\u00f6kyvyn yksikk\u00f6\u00e4 kohden. Ongelmapelaaminen heikent\u00e4\u00e4 itsekoettua ty\u00f6kyky\u00e4, johon i\u00e4ll\u00e4 ja sukupuolella ei ole vaikutusta. The effects of digital gaming on gamers have been studied, and the disadvantages and benefits of gaming can be described as a continuum, and the effects change cyclically depending on the player's situation. Gaming becomes gaming disorder when it exceeds 30 hours per week, after which the probability of problems increases due to the amount of digital gaming, or when the intensity of digital gaming is immersion and interest in other hobbies decreases. The connection between gaming disorder and work ability among people over the age of forty has been stud-ied little. Work ability consists of the demands of the job and one's own resources. The purpose of this master's thesis was to investigate the connection between self-perceived work ability and gaming disorder and to examine whether self-assessed mental health explains the connection between gaming disorder and work ability.\n\nIn this study, cross-sectional research data was used, which studied the Finnish working-age working population (N=8000) with the help of a questionnaire (age 18\u201365 years). The time spent on digital gaming was mapped by asking, among other things, the weekly number of games played on computers, consoles, and smart devices. The research material for this mas-ter's thesis consisted of 2268 research subjects who were gainfully employed and over 40 years of age. Respondents who reported being outside working life and under the age of forty were excluded from the original data. Problem gambling was charted using the Game Addic-tion Scale-7 (GAS7), which measures problem gambling. In addition, the participants' self-perceived work ability and self-perceived mental health (mood, depressive symptoms), as well as age and gender, were charted.\n\n\nBased on this thesis, gaming disorder was associated with self-perceived work ability in middle-aged and older working people. According to the result, problem gambling impairs self-perceived work ability -1.4 times in relation to the unit of self-perceived work ability. Gaming disorder weakens self-perceived work ability, which is not affected by age and gender.
