Tutkimus syvent\u00e4\u00e4 ymm\u00e4rryst\u00e4 oppilaiden el\u00e4ytymis- ja kerrontataidoista sek\u00e4 kirjallisuuskasvatuksen keinoista tukea tunteiden, kokemusten ja merkitysten ilmaisua kirjallisessa ja vuorovaikutteisessa ty\u00f6skentelyss\u00e4.\nTutkimukseen osallistui 18 11\u201312-vuotiasta oppilasta. Aineistonkeruussa\nhy\u00f6dynnettiin el\u00e4ytymismenetelm\u00e4\u00e4. Tutkimusaineiston analysoinnissa k\u00e4ytettiin apuna aineistol\u00e4ht\u00f6ist\u00e4 sis\u00e4ll\u00f6nanalyysi\u00e4, narratiivista- ja narratiivin analyysi\u00e4 sek\u00e4 l\u00e4hilukua.\nTutkimuksessa havaittiin oppilaiden el\u00e4ytyv\u00e4n fiktiiviseen kertomukseen\nmukailemalla draaman kaaren vaiheita. Ennakointikertomuksissa el\u00e4ytyminen\nilmeni fiktiivisen tekstin her\u00e4tt\u00e4miss\u00e4 tunteiden kuvauksissa, sosiaalisten suhteiden ja identiteetin teemoissa sek\u00e4 henkil\u00f6iden ajattelun ja toiminnan kuvauksissa. Oppilaat syvensiv\u00e4t ymm\u00e4rryst\u00e4\u00e4n reflektoimalla kirjoitusprosessiaan ryhm\u00e4keskusteluissa vertaamalla omia ennakkokertomuksiaan alkuper\u00e4iseen tarinaan, pohtimalla fiktion totuutta ja kuvaamalla omia kerronnallisia valintojaan\nTutkimus osoittaa, ett\u00e4 oppilaiden on mahdollista kokea empatiaa, k\u00e4sitell\u00e4\nitsetuntemuksen aihepiirej\u00e4, kehitt\u00e4\u00e4 kriittist\u00e4 ja moraalista ajattelua sek\u00e4 kokea\ntoimijuutta el\u00e4ytymismenetelm\u00e4n avulla. El\u00e4ytyminen rakentuu kognitiivisen ja\nemotionaalisen prosessin kautta ja ilmenee ennakointikertomuksissa tekstuaalisin keinoin, kuten juonen ja s\u00e4vyn avulla. It deepens the understanding of students\u2019 abilities in empathy and narrative expression, as well as how literature education can support the articulation of emotions, experiences, and meanings in both written and interactive contexts.\n\nEighteen students aged 11\u201312 participated in the study. The data was collected using the method of empathy-based stories (el\u00e4ytymismenetelm\u00e4). The analysis employed data-driven content analysis, narrative and narratological analysis, as well as close reading.\n\nThe findings reveal that students engaged with the fictional story by mirroring the stages of dramatic structure. In their predictive narratives, empathy manifested through descriptions of emotions evoked by the text, themes of social relationships and identity, and depictions of characters\u2019 thoughts and actions. Students deepened their understanding by reflecting on their writing process during group discussions, comparing their predictions to the original story, contemplating the truth of fiction, and articulating their narrative choices.\n\nThe study demonstrates that, through the method of empathy-based stories, students can experience empathy, explore themes of self-awareness, develop critical and moral reasoning, and experience a sense of agency. Empathy is constructed through both cognitive and emotional processes and is expressed in predictive narratives using textual elements such as plot and tone.
