description This multiple case study aims to explore the experiences and perceptions of international students in Finnish higher education institutions (HEIs). The study focuses on international students’ experiences and perceptions of firstly the role HEIs play in fostering their transition from academia to the Finish labour market and secondly, interpersonal interactions they get engaged in HEIs. For data collection, semi-structured interviews were conducted with 12 international students across several programs within the context of two Finnish HEIs. Key findings indicate that higher education falls short in its goal of fostering integration of international students into the Finnish labour market. Another key finding of the study identified the multifaceted nature of experiences of interpersonal interactions in HEIs. Even though many students reported positive interpersonal interactions and effective well-being support, experiences of social exclusion and microaggressions were also prominent. This stark contrast suggests that there are inconsistencies in the provision of an inclusive landscape for interpersonal interactions within the higher education context.
