Tutkielma perustuu sosiaaliseen konstruktionismiin, jonka mukaan todellisuus rakentuu sosiaalisen vuorovaikutuksen ja diskurssien kautta. T\u00e4ss\u00e4 tutkielmassa diskurssien katsotaan muotoutuvan Foucault \u2019laisen valtateorian mukaisesti tieto- ja valtak\u00e4yt\u00e4nteiden alaisena. Itsearviointi n\u00e4hd\u00e4\u00e4n t\u00e4llaisena diskurssissa syntyv\u00e4n\u00e4 valtak\u00e4yt\u00e4nteen\u00e4, joka osallistuu yksil\u00f6n min\u00e4n rakentumisen prosessiin.\nAineiston analyysi koostuu kahdesta vaiheesta. Ensimm\u00e4isess\u00e4 vaiheessa aineisto eritell\u00e4\u00e4n teemoittelemalla itsearviointiteht\u00e4vien piirteit\u00e4 kuudesta yl\u00e4-koulun oppilaanohjauksen oppimateriaalista. Ensimm\u00e4isen vaiheen teemoittelun perusteella valitaan kaksi oppilaan ominaisuuksia kuvaavaa itsearviointiteht\u00e4v\u00e4\u00e4 toisen vaiheen analyysiin, jossa selvitet\u00e4\u00e4n diskurssianalyysin avulla, millaista ihanneoppilasta itsearviointiteht\u00e4viss\u00e4 rakennetaan ja millaisia keinoja sen rakentamiseen k\u00e4ytet\u00e4\u00e4n.\nTulosten mukaan itsearviointiteht\u00e4viss\u00e4 rakennetaan ihanneoppilasta, jonka ominaisuuksia ovat vahvuuksien tunnistaminen, oman hyvinvoinnin edist\u00e4minen, motivoitunut ja my\u00f6nteinen asenne koulunk\u00e4yntiin, vastuullinen ja itseohjautuva toiminta sek\u00e4 hyvien vuorovaikutustaitojen omaaminen ja empaattinen suhtautuminen muihin.
