Tarkkaavaisuuden rooli oppimisessa korostuu maailmassa, jossa digitaalista informaatiota on valtavasti saatavilla. Tarkkaavaisuuden yll\u00e4pit\u00e4minen on keskeist\u00e4 akateemisen menestymisen kannalta. Tarkkaavaisuus on my\u00f6s osana my\u00f6s erilaisia kognitiivisia prosesseja, kuten itses\u00e4\u00e4tely\u00e4.\nT\u00e4m\u00e4n kirjallisuuskatsauksen p\u00e4\u00e4tavoitteena on selvitt\u00e4\u00e4, mitk\u00e4 tekij\u00e4t vaikuttavat opiskelijoiden tarkkaavaisuuteen ja kuinka tarkkaavaisuutta voidaan yll\u00e4pit\u00e4\u00e4 tehokkaammin opetuksessa. Tutkielmassa tarkastellaan tarkkaavaisuuden eri ulottuvuuksia sen fysiologista perusteista l\u00e4htien aina niihin tekij\u00f6ihin asti, jotka vaikuttavat tarkkaavaisuuden yll\u00e4pit\u00e4miseen. Tutkielma ei kuitenkaan kohdistu tarkkaavaisuush\u00e4iri\u00f6n omaaviin yksil\u00f6ihin.\nOpiskelijoiden tarkkaavaisuuden kesto opetuksessa on yksil\u00f6llist\u00e4. Se voi my\u00f6s vaihdella opetuksen aikana. Osa tarkkaavaisuuden vaihtelusta liittyy opetusk\u00e4yt\u00e4nteisiin, kun taas osaa vaihtelusta selitt\u00e4v\u00e4t opetukseen liittym\u00e4tt\u00f6m\u00e4t asiat. Opettaja voi kuitenkin omilla toimillaan, kuten vaihtelemalla teht\u00e4vi\u00e4 sopivin v\u00e4liajoin ja k\u00e4ytt\u00e4m\u00e4ll\u00e4 aktiivisia opetusstrategioita, edist\u00e4\u00e4 opiskelijoiden tarkkaavaisuuden yll\u00e4pit\u00e4mist\u00e4 opetuksessa. Media-multitaskaaminen asettaa kuitenkin opettajille ison haasteen opiskelijoiden tarkkaavaisuuden suhteen. Media-multitaskaaminen nimitt\u00e4in h\u00e4iritsee opiskelijoiden opetuksen aikaista tarkkaavaisuutta.\nOpiskelijoiden tarkkaavaisuuden yll\u00e4pit\u00e4minen on monitahoinen ilmi\u00f6, johon vaikuttavat sek\u00e4 opettajan hallintapiiriss\u00e4 olevat ett\u00e4 sen ulottumattomissa olevat seikat. Useat seikat ovat kuitenkin sellaisia, joihin opettaja voi omilla opetusratkaisuillaan tai opiskelija omalla toiminnallaan vaikuttaa. T\u00e4ss\u00e4 kirjallisuuskatsauksessa usea tutkimus keskittyy yliopisto- opiskelijoiden tarkkaavaisuuden yll\u00e4pit\u00e4miseen opetuksessa.
