Kansallinen opetussuunnitelma m\u00e4\u00e4rittelee opetettavat sis\u00e4ll\u00f6t, oppimistavoitteet, opetusmenetelm\u00e4t, arviointikriteerit ja opettajien ja \noppilaiden roolit peruskoulussa, sek\u00e4 ohjaa opettajankoulutusta yliopistotasolla. Peruskoulun kansallinen opetussuunnitelma uudistettiin vuonna 2014 ja otettiin asteittain k\u00e4ytt\u00f6\u00f6n yl\u00e4koulun vuosiluokille 7\u20139 vuosina 2017\u20132019. Uudistetun opetussuunnitelman k\u00e4yt\u00e4nn\u00f6n toteutus on ollut haasteellista, ja opettajat \nkokevat uudistuksen huonontaneen oppilaiden oppimistuloksia, kasvattaneen oppilaiden v\u00e4lisi\u00e4 taso-eroja, sek\u00e4 lis\u00e4nneen opettajien ty\u00f6n kuormittavuutta. Opettajien mielipiteit\u00e4 aiheesta on kuitenkin tutkittu \nhuomattavan v\u00e4h\u00e4isesti, oppiainetasolla ei lainkaan. \n\n Siksi t\u00e4m\u00e4n tutkimuksen tavoitteena oli kartoittaa englannin aineenopettajien mielipiteit\u00e4 kansallisesta opetussuunnitelmasta luokille 7\u20139. Tutkimus toteutettiin monimenetelm\u00e4tutkimuksena, jonka aineisto ker\u00e4ttiin yl\u00e4koulun englanninopettajille (n=67) suunnatun kyselyn kautta. Kyselyll\u00e4 ker\u00e4ttiin sek\u00e4 laadullista ett\u00e4 m\u00e4\u00e4r\u00e4llist\u00e4 aineistoa. M\u00e4\u00e4r\u00e4llisen datan kautta laskettiin opettajien prosentuaalinen tyytyv\u00e4isyys opetussuunnitelman eri osa-alueisiin ja laadullisen aineiston avulla opettajien kokemuksia ja mielipiteit\u00e4 tutkittiin syv\u00e4llisemm\u00e4ll\u00e4 tasolla. \n \nTutkimustulokset osoittavat, ett\u00e4 englanninopettajat ovat yleisesti ottaen eritt\u00e4in tyytym\u00e4tt\u00f6mi\u00e4 nykyiseen opetussuunnitelmaan. He pit\u00e4v\u00e4t opetussuunnitelmaan valittuja englannin kielen oppiainesis\u00e4lt\u00f6j\u00e4 sen suurimpana vahvuutena ja ep\u00e4selkeit\u00e4 arviointikriteereit\u00e4 ja heikkoa k\u00e4yt\u00e4nn\u00f6n sovellettavuutta sen \nsuurimpina heikkouksina. Vaikka suurin osa vastaajista kertoo pit\u00e4v\u00e4ns\u00e4 opetussuunnitelmasta opetusfilosofisella tasolla, he kokevat, ett\u00e4 opetussuunnitelman sis\u00e4lt\u00f6 ja tavoitteet eiv\u00e4t huomioi \nluokkahuoneiden todellisuutta. Opettajat kertoivat my\u00f6s pit\u00e4v\u00e4ns\u00e4 opetussuunnitelmaa vaikeaselkoisena, mik\u00e4 on aiheuttanut eriarvoisuutta oppilaiden arvioinnissa ja opetetun sis\u00e4ll\u00f6n m\u00e4\u00e4r\u00e4ss\u00e4. Vastaajat kokevat my\u00f6s ty\u00f6ns\u00e4 kuormittavuuden kasvaneen ja ty\u00f6viihtyvyytens\u00e4 heikentyneen opetussuunnitelmauudistuksen my\u00f6t\u00e4.
