Fyysinen aktiivisuus on yksi alue, jossa teknologia on saanut vahvan jalansijan. Liikuntateknologia, kuten urheilukellot, \u00e4lysormukset ja mobiilisovellukset, ovat muodostuneet keskeisiksi v\u00e4lineiksi liikunta- ja urheiluharrastuksissa sek\u00e4 niiden seuraamisessa. T\u00e4m\u00e4n tutkimuksen tarkoituksena on lis\u00e4t\u00e4 ymm\u00e4rryst\u00e4 siit\u00e4, mitk\u00e4 ovat t\u00e4ysi-ik\u00e4isen Z-sukupolven keskeisimm\u00e4t liikuntamotiivit ja miten ne vaikuttavat liikuntateknologian kuluttajak\u00e4ytt\u00e4ytymiseen. Aihe on ajankohtainen, sill\u00e4 Z-sukupolven liikuntamotiiveihin keskittyneit\u00e4 tutkimuksia ei ole Suomessa aiemmin tehty ja liikuntateknologian rooli harjoittelun tukena on kasvanut merkitt\u00e4v\u00e4sti erityisesti 2020-luvulla. \n\nTutkimuksen teoreettinen viitekehys rakentuu kolmesta keskeisest\u00e4 teoriasta: itseohjautuvuusteoriasta, Schwartzin arvoteoriasta ja teknologian hyv\u00e4ksymisen mallista. Itseohjautuvuusteorian ja Schwartzin arvoteorian avulla tarkastellaan liikuntamotiiveja. Teknologian hyv\u00e4ksymisen mallilla puolestaan selitet\u00e4\u00e4n, miten yksil\u00f6t omaksuvat liikuntateknologiaa ja mitk\u00e4 tekij\u00e4t vaikuttavat sen k\u00e4ytt\u00f6\u00f6n. N\u00e4iden teorioiden avulla pyrit\u00e4\u00e4n muodostamaan k\u00e4sitys siit\u00e4, miten liikuntamotiivit ja arvot ohjaavat Z-sukupolven kuluttajak\u00e4ytt\u00e4ytymist\u00e4 liikuntateknologian suhteen. Tutkimus toteutettiin laadullisena tutkimuksena. Aineisto ker\u00e4ttiin puolistrukturoiduilla teemahaastatteluilla t\u00e4ysi-ik\u00e4isilt\u00e4 Z-sukupolven edustajilta (n=10), jotka harrastivat tiettyj\u00e4 kest\u00e4vyyslajeja: polkujuoksua, maasto- tai gravelpy\u00f6r\u00e4ily\u00e4 tai vaellusta.\n\nTutkimuksen tulokset osoittavat, ett\u00e4 Z-sukupolven liikunta on pitk\u00e4lti sis\u00e4isesti motivoitunutta ja t\u00e4ten pysyv\u00e4\u00e4. Liikuntamotiivit liittyv\u00e4t vahvasti liikunnan tarjoamaan nautintoon, itsens\u00e4 kehitt\u00e4miseen, kokonaisvaltaisen hyvinvoinnin yll\u00e4pit\u00e4miseen sek\u00e4 sosiaalisiin tekij\u00f6ihin. Liikuntateknologia on keskeinen v\u00e4line liikuntamotiivien tukemisessa ja erityisesti urheilukellot sovelluksineen koetaan liikuntaa tukevina ty\u00f6kaluina. University of Jyv\u00e4skyl\u00e4, (Social Science of Sport and Marketing) Master\u2019s thesis, 87 pp., 4 appendices.\n\nGeneration Z has grown up as part of the world of technology and is particularly known for its widespread adoption of technology into everyday life. Physical activity is one area where technology has gained a strong foothold. Sports technology, such as sports watches, smart rings, and mobile applications, has become essential tools for engaging in and tracking sports and exercise activities. The purpose of this study is to understand the motives that drive the physical activity of adult Generation Z and how these motives influence consumer behavior regarding sports technology. The topic is relevant, as no previous studies in Finland have focused on the exercise motives of Generation Z, and the role of sports technology in supporting training has significantly increased, especially in the 2020s.\n\nThe theoretical framework of this study is based on three key theories: self-determination theory, Schwartz\u2019s value theory, and the technology acceptance model. Self-determination theory and Schwartz\u2019s value theory aim to provide a comprehensive understanding of exercise motives, while the technology acceptance model is used to explain how individuals adopt sports technology and what factors influence its use. These theories together help form a broader understanding of how exercise motives and values shape Generation Z's consumer behavior in relation to sports technology. The study was conducted as a qualitative research, and data was collected through semi-structured thematic interviews with adult Generation Z participants (n=10) who practiced specific endurance sports: trail running, mountain or gravel biking, or hiking.\n\nThe results of the study indicate that Generation Z's engagement in physical activity is mostly driven by intrinsic motivation, making it a lasting behavior. Exercise motives are strongly linked to enjoyment, self-improvement, maintaining overall well-being, and social factors. Sports technology plays a key role in supporting exercise motives, with sports watches and their applications being perceived as valuable tools for enhancing physical activity. Generation Z consumers are aware of their consumption habits and make conscious and sustainable choices regarding sports technology.
