Lis\u00e4ksi peltojen metsitt\u00e4minen voi vaikuttaa positiivisesti luonnon monimuotoisuuteen ja ilmastoon. \u00c4nkyrimadot (Enchytraeidae) vaikuttavat toiminnallaan etenkin maaper\u00e4n orgaanisen aineksen dynamiikkaan ja mikrobiyhteis\u00f6jen rakenteeseen, mik\u00e4 tekee niist\u00e4 ravinteiden kierron kannalta t\u00e4rkeit\u00e4 maaper\u00e4el\u00e4imi\u00e4. Ravinteiden kierrolla on puolestaan vaikutusta muun muassa puiden kasvuun. T\u00e4ss\u00e4 pro gradu -tutkielmassa tutkittiin, onko kivenn\u00e4ismaapellolle istutetulla puulajilla, eli kuusella (Picea abies), m\u00e4nnyll\u00e4 (Pinus sylvestris) ja rauduskoivulla (Betula pendula) vaikutusta \u00e4nkyrimatojen runsauteen. Tutkimus toteutettiin 10:ll\u00e4 tutkimuspellolla, jotka oli metsitetty 1990-luvulla. Tutkimuspellot oli jaettu koeruutuihin, joilta n\u00e4ytteet otettiin satunnaisesti maakairalla nelj\u00e4n senttimetrin syvyyteen asti. \u00c4nkyrimadot eroteltiin n\u00e4ytteist\u00e4 m\u00e4rk\u00e4suppilomenetelm\u00e4\u00e4 k\u00e4ytt\u00e4en, ja aineistoa analysoitiin yleistettyjen lineaaristen sekamallien avulla. Hypoteeseina oli, ett\u00e4 (1) \u00e4nkyrimatojen yksil\u00f6m\u00e4\u00e4r\u00e4t ovat suuremmat kohteilla, jotka on metsitetty havupuilla verrattuna kohteisiin, jotka on metsitetty lehtipuilla ja (2) \u00e4nkyrimatoja on maaper\u00e4ss\u00e4 runsaammin, kun maaper\u00e4n pH on alhainen ja orgaanisen aineksen m\u00e4\u00e4r\u00e4 on korkea. In addition, afforestation of fields can have positive effects on biodiversity and climate. Enchytraeid worms (Enchytraeidae) affect especially the dynamics of soil organic matter and thus the community structure of microbes, which makes them important soil animals in terms of nutrient cycling. The nutrient cycle, on the other hand, affects tree growth, among other things. This study investigated whether the tree species, Norway spruce (Picea abies), Scots pine (Pinus sylvestris), and silver birch (Betula pendula), influence the abundance of enchytraeids in afforested mineral soil fields. The study was carried out in 10 fields that were experimentally afforested in the early 1990s. Samples were randomly taken from each experimental area to a depth of four centimeters. Enchytraeids were extracted using the wet funnel method, and the data was analyzed using a generalized linear mixed model. The hypotheses were that (1) the abundance of enchytraeids is highest in the fields planted with coniferous tree species and lowest in the fields planted with deciduous trees, and (2) individuals are more abundant when soil pH is low and organic matter content is high. The results showed that the tree species affected the abundance of enchytraeids: the numbers were higher at the sites planted with silver birch compared to those planted with Norway spruce and Scots pine, but there was no difference between the sites planted with Norway spruce and Scots pine. Soil pH, the amount of organic matter, or the basal area did not affect the abundance of enchytraeids. The results can be traced back to the high nutrient content of the soil and the variations in the quantity and quality of food resources available to enchytraeids among different tree species. Based on the results, afforestation with silver birch is often a better option than afforestation with spruce or pine.
