Ty\u00f6riippuvuus on yksi\nyleisimpi\u00e4 riippuvuuksia, ja se voi altistaa esimerkiksi heikommalle ty\u00f6st\u00e4 palautumiselle ja\nty\u00f6uupumukselle. T\u00e4m\u00e4n tutkimuksen tavoitteena on selvitt\u00e4\u00e4 narsististen piirteiden yhteytt\u00e4\nty\u00f6riippuvuuteen ja sit\u00e4, onko yhteydess\u00e4 eroa johtoteht\u00e4viss\u00e4 ty\u00f6skentelevien ja muiden ty\u00f6ntekij\u00f6iden v\u00e4lill\u00e4. Narsististen piirteiden, kuten korostuneen ihailun tarpeen ja ylimielisen k\u00e4ytt\u00e4ytymisen, on havaittu linkittyv\u00e4n eri riippuvuuksiin, muun muassa ty\u00f6riippuvuuteen. Lis\u00e4ksi\naiemmissa tutkimuksissa on l\u00f6ydetty yhteys johtoasemassa ty\u00f6skentelyn ja ty\u00f6riippuvuuden\nv\u00e4lilt\u00e4.\nTutkimus on toteutettu Jyv\u00e4skyl\u00e4n yliopistossa osana kansainv\u00e4list\u00e4 ty\u00f6riippuvuuden\ntutkimushanketta (Global Research On Work Addiction). Aineisto ker\u00e4ttiin Webropol-kyselylomakkeella touko\u2013elokuussa 2023. Kyselyyn vastasi yhteens\u00e4 1558 henkil\u00f6\u00e4, joista lopulliseen analyysiin otettiin mukaan 1418 vastaajaa. Tutkittavista 28,4 % ty\u00f6skenteli johtoteht\u00e4viss\u00e4. Ty\u00f6riippuvuutta mitattiin Bergen Work Addiction Scale -kyselyn seitsem\u00e4ll\u00e4 v\u00e4itt\u00e4m\u00e4ll\u00e4, ja narsistisia piirteit\u00e4 arvioitiin Dirty Dozen -mittariin perustuvalla nelj\u00e4ll\u00e4 v\u00e4itt\u00e4m\u00e4ll\u00e4\nnarsistisuudesta. Narsistisuuden ja ty\u00f6riippuvuuden yhteytt\u00e4 sek\u00e4 johtaja-aseman muuntavaa\nvaikutusta mitattiin hierarkkisen lineaarisen regressioanalyysin avulla.\nTulokset viittasivat siihen, ett\u00e4 narsistiset persoonallisuuspiirteet selittiv\u00e4t 3,1 % ty\u00f6riippuvuuden vaihtelusta. Johtaja-asema ei muuntanut narsistisuuden ja ty\u00f6riippuvuuden v\u00e4list\u00e4 yhteytt\u00e4 eli eri asemissa ty\u00f6skentelevill\u00e4 yhteys oli samanlainen. Johtoasemalla oli kuitenkin positiivinen yhteys sek\u00e4 narsistisuuteen ett\u00e4 ty\u00f6riippuvuuteen. T\u00e4st\u00e4 voi p\u00e4\u00e4tell\u00e4, ett\u00e4\nmit\u00e4 enemm\u00e4n vastaajalla ilmeni narsistisia piirteit\u00e4, sit\u00e4 korkeampaa ty\u00f6riippuvuutta he raportoivat.\nTutkimuksen tulokset olivat yhdenmukaisia aiempien tutkimusten havaintojen kanssa\nnarsistisuuden yhteyksist\u00e4 ty\u00f6riippuvuuteen ja johtaja-asemaan. Lis\u00e4ksi tutkimus tarjoaa tarkentavaa tietoa ty\u00f6riippuvuuden ja narsistisuuden yhteydest\u00e4 suomalaisessa kontekstissa. K\u00e4yt\u00e4nn\u00f6ss\u00e4 tutkimustuloksia voidaan hy\u00f6dynt\u00e4\u00e4 organisaatioiden ty\u00f6hyvinvoinnin parantamisessa. It may be a risk factor for lower recovery of work and burnout, for instance. The aim of this study is to investigate whether there\nis an association between narcissistic traits and work addiction. Furthermore, we examined\nhow managerial position may moderate this relation. In prior research, narcissistic characteristics such as arrogant behavior and a need for admiration have been associated with different\naddictions, including work addiction. Moreover, supervisory position has been related to work\naddiction in previous studies.\nThis study is conducted in University of Jyv\u00e4skyl\u00e4, as a part of an international research project studying work addiction (Global Research On Work Addiction). The data were\ncollected in summer 2023 using Webropol questionnaire. There were 1558 respondents in total,\nof which 1418 were included in the final analysis. 28,4% of the respondents worked in a managerial role. Work addiction was measured using seven question items of Bergen Work Addiction Scale, whereas four items measuring narcissistic traits were based on Dirty Dozen. We\nexamined the association between work addiction and narcissistic traits with hierarchical regression model. The moderating effect of managerial position was included in the analysis\nusing interaction term.\nThe results indicated that narcissistic traits explained 3,1% of the work addiction variation. The managerial position did not moderate the association between narcissistic traits and\nwork addiction. However, managerial role was positively associated with both narcissistic traits\nand work addiction. This suggests that the more the respondent had narcissistic traits, the higher\nthey evaluated work addiction to be. The same association applied to managers and employees.\nThe results were consistent with the findings of previous research on narcissistic traits\nin relation to work addiction and managerial position. Additionally, this study provides new\ninformation about the association in Finnish context. In practice, the results can be utilized in\npromoting well-being at work on an organizational level.
