Digitaalinen kaksonen on virtuaalinen kopio koneen tai laitteen fyysisest\u00e4 osasta, tuotteesta tai kokonai-suudesta. Virtuaalisen kopion avulla voidaan seurata reaaliaikaista dataa ja pa-rametriarvoja ilman, ett\u00e4 tarvitsee olla fyysisen koneen l\u00e4hell\u00e4. Digitaalisen kaksosen k\u00e4ytett\u00e4vyyden kannalta olennaista on, ett\u00e4 k\u00e4ytett\u00e4v\u00e4 data on kaksi-suuntaista, eli tarvittavaa dataa voidaan ker\u00e4t\u00e4, analysoida, optimoida ja enna-koida, jotta fyysisi\u00e4 laitteita saadaan hy\u00f6dynnetty\u00e4 paremmin. Tutkimuksen tavoitteena oli selvitt\u00e4\u00e4, mit\u00e4 hy\u00f6tyj\u00e4 ja mahdollisuuksia digitaaliset kaksoset voivat tuoda tutkimuksen kohdeyritykselle sek\u00e4 miksi yrityksen tulisi investoi-da digitaalisiin kaksosiin. Tutkimuskysymyksi\u00e4 tarkasteltiin sek\u00e4 yrityksen eri toimintojen ett\u00e4 auto- ja valmistusteollisuudesta haettujen esimerkkien kautta. Tutkimus toteutettiin teemahaastatteluina. Haastattelujen teemat ja analysoin-timenetelm\u00e4 pohjautuivat aiempaan tutkimukseen ja kirjallisuuteen. Teema-haastatteluiden osallistujat, 13kpl, valittiin yrityksen ty\u00f6ntekij\u00f6ist\u00e4, jotta voitiin huomioida organisaatiokohtaiset tarpeet. Tutkimuksen tuloksia vertailtiin ai-kaisemmin julkaistuun kirjallisuuteen ja sielt\u00e4 l\u00f6ydettyihin esimerkkeihin niin yritystasolla kuin toimintokohtaisesti. Tutkimuksen tulosten perusteella voi-daan todeta, ett\u00e4 digitaalisten kaksosten k\u00e4ytt\u00f6\u00f6notto tarjoaa hy\u00f6tyj\u00e4 ja mah-dollisuuksia yrityksen kaikille toiminnolle. Hy\u00f6tyj\u00e4 ovat esimerkiksi tuotekehi-tysprosessin nopeutuminen ja dataan perustuva p\u00e4\u00e4t\u00f6ksenteko. Mahdollisuuk-sia hy\u00f6dynt\u00e4\u00e4 digitaalisia kaksosia l\u00f6ytyi muun muassa talon sis\u00e4isest\u00e4 viestin-n\u00e4st\u00e4, paremmasta ty\u00f6turvallisuudesta ja asiakkaiden laitteisiin tutustumisesta virtuaalisesti. Huoltopalveluiden n\u00e4k\u00f6kulmasta hy\u00f6tyj\u00e4 toisi nopeampi vika-koodien selvitt\u00e4minen sek\u00e4 oikea-aikainen huolto ja varaosien vastaavuus. Tut-kimuksen tuloksia voidaan my\u00f6hemmin hy\u00f6dynt\u00e4\u00e4 alustavana investointi-suunnitelmana. A digital twin is a virtual copy of the machine\u2019s physical part, product, or entire machine. It allows real-time data and parameter values to be monitored without visiting the physical machine. It is essential that the data is bidirectional, meaning that the collected data can be gathered, analyzed, optimized, and predicted to utilize the physical devices better. The study aims to determine what benefits and opportunities digital twins can bring to the case company and why they should invest in them. The research questions have been examined from the perspective of different company departments, and examples have been sought from similar industries. Based on the literature re-view, analytical lenses have been created for processing the results, as well as themes on which thematic interviews are conducted as the research method. In the workshops, 13 company employees are interviewed to ensure that the an-swers are tailored to their specific needs. The research findings were compared with previously published literature and examples found at the company level and by the departments. Based on the findings of the study, it can be concluded that the implementation of digital twins offers benefits and opportunities for all company departments. Benefits include, for example, the acceleration of the product development process and data-driven decision-making. Opportunities to utilize digital twins were found in areas such as in-house communication, improved workplace safety and customers\u2019 virtual familiarization with the ma-chines. From the perspective of maintenance services, benefits include faster fault code resolution, correct maintenance protocols and having correct spare parts available. The research findings could later be used as a preliminary in-vestment plan.
