Tutkimukset ovat osoittaneet, ett\u00e4 nuorten fyysinen aktiivisuus laskee merkitt\u00e4v\u00e4sti siirrytt\u00e4ess\u00e4 alakoulusta yl\u00e4kouluun ja j\u00e4lleen siirrytt\u00e4ess\u00e4 toiselle asteelle. (Martin ym. 2023). T\u00e4m\u00e4 tutkimus tarkasteli lukiolaisten k\u00e4sityksi\u00e4 heid\u00e4n liikuntatottumuksistaan lukioaikana. Tutkimuksen tavoitteena oli selvitt\u00e4\u00e4, miten lukiolaiset kuvaavat omia liikuntatottumuksiaan lukioaikana. Tutkimus perustuu laadullisiin haastatteluihin, jotka toteutettiin kev\u00e4\u00e4ll\u00e4 2024 kahdessa Etel\u00e4-Suomen ruotsinkielisess\u00e4 lukiossa. Haastattelut litteroitiin ja analysoitiin laadullisena sis\u00e4ll\u00f6nanalyysin\u00e4. \n\nSis\u00e4ll\u00f6nanalyysi tuotti nelj\u00e4 p\u00e4\u00e4teemaa, jotka sis\u00e4lsiv\u00e4t yhteens\u00e4 11 alateemaa. Rutiinit ja jatkuvuus liikuntak\u00e4ytt\u00e4ytymisess\u00e4 nousivat keskeisiksi teemoiksi, joissa osallistujat kuvaavat vaihtelevia kokemuksia n\u00e4iden tapojen luomisesta ja yll\u00e4pit\u00e4misest\u00e4. Sosiaaliset suhteet n\u00e4htiin merkitt\u00e4vin\u00e4 liikunnan yhteydess\u00e4 ja vertaisten tuki sek\u00e4 yhteinen toiminta olivat t\u00e4rkeit\u00e4. Koulun ymp\u00e4rist\u00f6 kuvattiin p\u00e4\u00e4osin istumapainotteiseksi eik\u00e4 sill\u00e4 katsottu olevan merkitt\u00e4v\u00e4\u00e4 roolia p\u00e4ivitt\u00e4isen liikunnan edist\u00e4misess\u00e4, vaikka liikunnan merkitys korostuu opetuksessa. Fyysisen aktiivisuuden esteiksi tunnistettiin ajanpuute ja ep\u00e4suotuisat ymp\u00e4rist\u00f6tekij\u00e4t. Studies have shown that adolescents\u2019 physical activity significantly declines when transitioning from primary to secondary school, and again when moving from secondary to upper secondary school (Martin et al. 2023). This study explored upper secondary school students\u2019 perceptions of their exercise habits during their time in upper secondary school, aiming to highlight how they describe their exercise routines during this period. The study is based on qualitative interviews conducted in the spring of 2024 with students from two Swedish-speaking upper secondary schools in southern Finland. The interviews were transcribed and analyzed using qualitative content analysis.\n\nThe content analysis resulted in four main themes, encompassing a total of 11 sub-themes.\nRoutines and continuity in exercise behavior emerged as central themes, with participants describing varying experiences in establishing and maintaining these habits. Social relationships were deemed important in relation to exercise, where social support and group activities played a significant role. The school environment was described as largely sedentary, with a limited role in promoting daily physical activity, despite the importance of exercise being emphasized in education. Barriers to physical activity were identified, including lack of time and unfavorable environmental factors. Exercise was perceived as an important component of both mental and physical well-being and was described as a way to manage stress and maintain balance in daily life.\n\nThis study provides valuable insights for teachers, student welfare staff, and guardians to better understand and support upper secondary students\u2019 physical activity and well-being.
