Aiheen tarkastelu on mielenkiintoista ja hy\u00f6dyllist\u00e4 sek\u00e4 itsess\u00e4\u00e4n, ett\u00e4 my\u00f6s pelikehityst\u00e4 ajatellen, sill\u00e4 hahmonluonnilla on merkitt\u00e4v\u00e4 rooli pelaajien samaistumisessa pelihahmoihin sek\u00e4 pelikokemuksen syvent\u00e4misess\u00e4. Tutkimus toteutettiin kyselyn avulla, johon vastasi 804 henkil\u00f6\u00e4. Tulokset osoittavat ett\u00e4 hahmonluonti on monipuolinen v\u00e4line, jota pelaajat hy\u00f6dynt\u00e4v\u00e4t eri tavoin. The goal was especially to find out if body image can affect this and how different players make characters. Examining the topic is interesting and useful both in itself and also in terms of game development, as character creation plays a significant role in players' identification with game characters and in deepening the game experience. The research was carried out using a survey, which was answered by 804 people. The results show that character creation is a versatile tool that players use in different ways. Gender, age, player orientation and body image are influential factors. Almost half of the respondents created game characters that differed from their own appearance, and a quarter did not reflect any of their own characteristics on their character. Hairstyle and gender were the most important customizable features for many players, and a large number of players chose their own skin tone and gender for their character. In addition, the results show that, on average, women are more aesthetically oriented and consider the editing of character features more important than men. Body image was related to the perceived similarity of the player's and game character's body, but not to the importance of any feature. In further research, it would be useful to look at the differences between cultures in character creation and to study how the character's other characteristics, such as personality and voice, affect the player's identification with the game character.
