N\u00e4k\u00f6kulmana on mukana my\u00f6s todistusvalinnan tuomat mahdolliset vaikutukset omaan toimintaan tai ajatuksiin. Suomalaisten v\u00e4henev\u00e4 \nkielitaito on puhuttanut suomalaista yhteiskuntaa viime vuosien aikana, ja varsinkin opettajien huoli on \ntullut keskustelussa esille. Todistusvalinta on ollut k\u00e4yt\u00f6ss\u00e4 vuodesta 2020, jolla on ollut heikent\u00e4v\u00e4 vaikutus kielten valintoihin. Juuri sen vuoksi tutkielmaan on otettu huomioon my\u00f6s sen mahdollinen vaikutus opettajien asenteisiin ja toimintatapoihin. Tutkimuskysymykset ovat seuraavat: t\u00e4ytyyk\u00f6 opettajien \nheid\u00e4n mielest\u00e4\u00e4n motivoida lukiolaisia jatkamaan valinnaisten vieraiden kielten opiskelua? Onko opettajien mielest\u00e4 lukiolaisten hy\u00f6dyllist\u00e4 opiskella n\u00e4it\u00e4 kieli\u00e4 ja suorittaa ne ylioppilaskirjoituksissa? Miten \nopettajat motivoivat lukiolaisia opiskelemaan valinnaisia vieraita kieli\u00e4?\n\nT\u00e4ss\u00e4 tutkielmassa aineistonkeruuna on k\u00e4ytetty kyselylomaketta, joka on l\u00e4hetetty satunnaisesti Pohjanmaan eri alueilla sijaitseviin lukioihin. Vastaajam\u00e4\u00e4r\u00e4 on yhteens\u00e4 13. Vastauksia k\u00e4ytiin l\u00e4pi sis\u00e4ll\u00f6nanalyysin avuin. Kyselyn vastauksista ilmeni, ett\u00e4 asenteet lukiolaisten valinnaisten vieraiden kielten opiskeluun on s\u00e4ilynyt my\u00f6nteisen\u00e4, johon lukiolaisia tahdotaan kannustaa. Heid\u00e4n mielest\u00e4\u00e4n t\u00e4rkeint\u00e4 on lukiolaisen henkil\u00f6kohtainen hy\u00f6ty kielen opiskelusta. Opettajat kokevat painetta motivoida lukiolaisia, \njotta tarvittavat ryhm\u00e4koot muodostuvat. Vastauksista ilmeni paljon keinoja motivoida lukiolaisia valinnaisten vieraiden kielten opiskeluun, jotka jaoteltiin nelj\u00e4\u00e4n eri kategoriaan: motivaation perusedellytysten luominen, motivaation l\u00f6yt\u00e4misen tukeminen, motivaation yll\u00e4pit\u00e4minen sek\u00e4 s\u00e4ilytt\u00e4minen ja positiiviseen j\u00e4lkik\u00e4teiseen itsearviointiin kannustaminen. N\u00e4it\u00e4 vastauksia ei voida kuitenkaan yleist\u00e4\u00e4 muihin lukioissa ty\u00f6skenteleviin opettajiin vastausten v\u00e4h\u00e4isyyden vuoksi. T\u00e4m\u00e4n kandidaatintutkielman \nvastaajien antamia motivoivia keinoja voi k\u00e4ytt\u00e4\u00e4 apuv\u00e4lineen\u00e4 oman opettamisen tukena.
