Tutkielmani tarkoituksena oli k\u00e4sitell\u00e4 t\u00e4t\u00e4 yhteytt\u00e4, sek\u00e4 \ntarkastella, kuinka mielenterveysongelmat ilmeniv\u00e4t selkeimmiss\u00e4 \npelaajaryhmiss\u00e4, joilla oletin olevan ominaispiirteit\u00e4. Tutkimuksena toimi\nkirjallisuuskatsaus, jossa hy\u00f6dynsin erilaisia tietokantoja ja niist\u00e4 l\u00f6yt\u00e4mi\u00e4ni\nartikkeleita ja tutkimuksia, jotka k\u00e4sitteliv\u00e4t ja selittiv\u00e4t kandidaatintutkielmani \naiheita ja ilmi\u00f6it\u00e4. N\u00e4iden avulla pyrin luomaan kattavan sek\u00e4 puolueettoman\nn\u00e4kemyksen tutkittavaan aiheeseen, jonka my\u00f6t\u00e4 loin omia johtop\u00e4\u00e4t\u00f6ksi\u00e4, sek\u00e4 \npohdin erilaisia muuttujia, jotka mahdollisesti puuttuvat l\u00e4hteist\u00e4 ja jotka tulisi \nottaa huomioon alan tutkimuksissa. Tutkielman toteuttamisen motiivina \ntoimivat videopelien ja mielenterveysongelmien esiintymisen yhteydess\u00e4\npiilev\u00e4t kysymykset, joihin tutkijat eiv\u00e4t viel\u00e4 ole saaneet kuin pienen m\u00e4\u00e4r\u00e4n \nkonkreettisia vastauksia. Erilaisia sairauksia, kuten ahdistusta ja masennusta, on \nyhdistetty usein videopeleihin, mink\u00e4 vuoksi omia sairausluokituksiakin on \npyritty kehitt\u00e4m\u00e4\u00e4n. Diagnoosikriteerien ja aikaisemmin tuotettujen tutkimusten \nkannalta selkein ja yleisin on sairausluokitus \u201dinternet gaming disorder\u201d, mink\u00e4 \nvuoksi tarkastelen sit\u00e4 my\u00f6s tutkielmassani. Sairauksien tutkimisen lis\u00e4ksi\ntarkempina tutkimuskysymyksin\u00e4 toimi \u201dKuinka luotettavasti videopelej\u00e4 \nvoidaan pit\u00e4\u00e4 mielenterveysongelmien aiheuttajana?\u201d sek\u00e4 \u201dKuinka vahvasti\nerilaisia mielenterveysongelmia ilmenee videopelien vaikutuksesta?\u201d. \nTutkielmani osoitti videopeleill\u00e4 olevan selkeit\u00e4, vaikkakin hyvinkin henkil\u00f6ist\u00e4\nriippuvia vaikutuksia. Vaikutukset ilmeniv\u00e4t tutkimuksen mukaan usein laajasti \nja eri tavoin, sek\u00e4 niiden alkuper\u00e4\u00e4 oli vaikea varmuudella selvitt\u00e4\u00e4. \nTutkimuskysymyksiini saamieni vastausten lis\u00e4ksi selvitin, kuinka \nhy\u00f6dynt\u00e4m\u00e4ll\u00e4 erilaisia tietoja ihmisist\u00e4, kuten heid\u00e4n suhteitaan videopeleihin, \nvoidaan saada luotettavampia yhteyksi\u00e4 mielenterveysongelmiin sek\u00e4 selitt\u00e4vi\u00e4 \ntekij\u00f6it\u00e4, joita hy\u00f6dynt\u00e4m\u00e4ll\u00e4 mielenterveysongelmia voidaan ennakoida sek\u00e4\nauttaa mielenterveysongelmista k\u00e4rsivi\u00e4. Because of this, new challenges have risen \nin both research and treatment of mental health problems, as many of these \nproblems are connected to video games. The goal of my research is to evaluate \nthe correlation between mental health and video games and to evaluate the \nfunctionality of current study methods. I will also discuss possible difficulties in\nresearch and assumptions, as well as aim to prove the scale of the correlation. \nThe research is a literature review, in which I used various databases for articles \nand studies that discussed and explained the topics and phenomena of my \nbachelor's thesis. With the help of these, I aimed to create a comprehensive and \nunbiased view of the researched topic, with which I created conclusions, as well \nas presented various variables that are possibly missing from the sources, and \nwhich should be considered in the studies of the field. The motives for the thesis\u2019\nsubject are the problems in the connections between video games and mental \nhealth problems, to which researchers have only found limited answers. Various \ndiseases, such as anxiety and depression, have been linked to video games and \ngaming addiction, which is why a disease of its own, \"internet Gaming disorder\", \nwas established. The more specific research questions in my thesis were \"How \nreliably are video games considered to cause mental health problems?\" and \"How \ndo different mental health problems manifest with gaming?\". My findings \nshowed that video games have clear effects, albeit depending on the individual. \nAccording to the conclusions, the effects often manifested in different ways, and \nit was difficult to ascertain their origin with certainty. In addition to this, my \nresearch concluded that different information about people, such as their \nrelationship with video games, can help create more reliable connections to \nmental health problems.
