Delays and budget overruns are common problems in the industry, and inefficient project planning and delays due to design errors have been identified as the major causes. Additionally, the construction industry ranks as the second least digitized sector, trailing only agriculture and hunting. The development of artificial intelligence has taken significant leaps forward since IBM's Deep Blue defeated Garry Kasparov in chess in 1997. In 2016, AlphaGo defeated the 18-time world champion Lee Sedol in Go, demonstrating the efficiency of artificial intelligence in processing data and making evaluations. Artificial intelligence is already being utilized in many fields, but in the construction industry, research and development have taken a secondary position - only one percent of the profits generated by the construction industry are used for research. It has been observed that as companies increase the number of AI patents by ten percent, their productivity also increases by five percent. The impact is currently most visible in small and medium-sized enterprises, which may be due to the inability of large companies to adapt to changing situations or reluctance to increase the number of AI patents. The aim of this literature review is to explore how artificial intelligence can improve productivity in the construction industry. The thesis reviews four studies that address budget estimation, identifying factors affecting productivity, monitoring employee productivity, and risk management. Artificial intelligence has been utilized in each of the studies, and the results appear promising.
