Boreaalisten metsien lajistoa uhkaa etenkin metsien ominaispiirteiden, kuten lahopuujatkumon, katoaminen mets\u00e4talouden seurauksena. Talousmetsien lahopuujatkumoa voidaan parantaa lis\u00e4\u00e4m\u00e4ll\u00e4 lahopuun m\u00e4\u00e4r\u00e4\u00e4 mekaanisesti tekem\u00e4ll\u00e4 esimerkiksi tekop\u00f6kkel\u00f6it\u00e4. T\u00e4ss\u00e4 pro gradu -tutkielmassa tutkin, eroaako tekop\u00f6kkel\u00f6iden lahottajasienilajisto luonnonp\u00f6kkel\u00f6iden sienilajistosta ja millaiset p\u00f6kkel\u00f6iden ja ymp\u00e4rist\u00f6n ominaisuudet vaikuttavat lahottajasienilajistoon mets\u00e4nk\u00e4sittelyn eri vaiheissa. Tutkimuksessani oli 146 teko- ja luonnonp\u00f6kkel\u00f6\u00e4. Tutkimusp\u00f6kkel\u00f6t sijaitsivat tuoreilla ja vanhoilla hakkuilla sek\u00e4 varttuneilla harvennuksilla. Kartoitin tutkimusp\u00f6kkel\u00f6ist\u00e4 silmin havaittavat sienten iti\u00f6em\u00e4t ja ker\u00e4sin purun\u00e4ytteen sienilajiston DNA-m\u00e4\u00e4rityst\u00e4 varten. Tutkimusp\u00f6kkel\u00f6ist\u00e4 ja kuvioilta m\u00e4\u00e4ritin my\u00f6s muita p\u00f6kkel\u00f6iden ja ymp\u00e4rist\u00f6n muuttujia, kuten lahoasteen, halkaisijan ja kuvion lahopuun m\u00e4\u00e4r\u00e4n. Tutkin p\u00f6kkel\u00f6iden ominaisuuksien ja ymp\u00e4rist\u00f6muuttujien vaikutuksia p\u00f6kkel\u00f6iden sienten lajim\u00e4\u00e4r\u00e4\u00e4n yleistetyill\u00e4 lineaarisilla sekamalleilla erikseen sek\u00e4 iti\u00f6em\u00e4- ett\u00e4 DNA-aineistoille. Tutkin my\u00f6s sienten yhteis\u00f6koostumukseen vaikuttavia tekij\u00f6it\u00e4 yhteis\u00f6analyysilla. Tulokseni osoittavat, ett\u00e4 tekop\u00f6kkel\u00f6t tukevat lahopuujatkumoa, sill\u00e4 tekop\u00f6kkel\u00f6iden sienilajisto ei eronnut luonnonp\u00f6kkel\u00f6iden lajistosta. Kaikilla tutkimusp\u00f6kkel\u00f6ill\u00e4 esiintyi l\u00e4hinn\u00e4 yleisi\u00e4 lajeja, jotka kuvaavat talousmetsiss\u00e4 tavattavaa lajistoa. T\u00e4rke\u00e4 yleinen huomio tuloksissa oli se, ett\u00e4 p\u00f6kkel\u00f6iden tai ymp\u00e4rist\u00f6n ominaisuudet eiv\u00e4t vaikuta yksiselitteisesti sienten lajim\u00e4\u00e4r\u00e4\u00e4n ja yhteis\u00f6koostumukseen p\u00f6kkel\u00f6ill\u00e4. Sienilajeilla on omat vaatimuksensa, joten tekop\u00f6kkel\u00f6it\u00e4 kannattaa tehd\u00e4 eri puolille hakkuukuvioita erilaisiin olosuhteisiin. In boreal forests, forestry is the main cause for the loss of forests\u2019 natural characteristics such as dead wood. Dead wood continuity can be improved in managed forests by adding dead wood mechanically. One possibility is to add artificial high stumps. In this master\u2019s thesis, my aim was to study whether fungi species richness and community composition differ between artificial high stumps and natural high stumps. I also studied how different environmental factors or characters of the high stumps affect the species richness and composition of the wood decaying fungi in different logging stages. I studied 146 high stumps, artificial and natural, which were located in three different forest stand classes: fresh or old clear-cut areas and advanced thinning forests. I did an inventory of the fungi species by identifying all the visible fungi fruit bodies. Additionally, I collected sawdust samples from which the fungi species were analyzed with DNA methods. I also measured several other factors such as the stage of decay and diameter of the high stumps as well as the amount of dead wood in the logging area. I studied the effect of environmental factors and characters of the high stumps on the number of wood decaying fungi by using linear mixed models separately for the fruit body and DNA data. I also used community analyses to study how the species composition is affected. My results show that high stumps do support the dead wood continuity as there was no difference between artificial and natural high stumps. All the fungi in this study were common species typical in managed forests. One of the most important results was that characters of the high stumps and environmental factors do not unambiguously affect the species number and composition. Fungi species have their own requirements and thus artificial high stumps should be made in the different parts of the logging area in different conditions. The tree species affected especially the species composition, so artificial high stumps should be made out of both coniferous and broad-leaved trees. Artificial high stumps are a suitable habitat for many species.
