Beside European Union, Finland has ambitious targets to decrease the\nGHG-emissions and improving buildings energy efficiency has important role in reaching\nthe goals. There are more than one million residential detached or semi-detached houses\nin Finland, and small house living has been traditionally very popular mode of living in\nFinland. Due to long and cold winters, the heating of buildings is consuming a large share\nof a buildings\u2019 total energy demand. Heating of houses have also become more an economical issue due to increased energy costs. Historically high electricity prices hit the\nmarket in the late 2022\u2019s, causing an unexperienced energy crisis in Finland.\nThe aim of the study was to investigate house owners plans to change or update their\nheating system, to find out does the heating system effect on house value from house\nowner\u2019s perspective, to examine attitudes towards tightening energy efficiency requirements and the statutory energy performance certificate EPC, that provides information\nabout the energy efficiency of the house, and to find out how much the environmental\nfriendliness of the heating system weights in relation to the costs. Quantitative research\nwas carried out by using a web-based questionnaire to collect the data. The results of the\nstudy showed that a significant part of house owners did consider changing or updating\nthe heating system of their house to more energy efficient system. For the most house\nowners, the costs were the most important driver and the environmental aspects played\nless important role. Even there were many negative tones towards EPC amongst the house\nowners, it was widely agreed that the type of heating system does have strong effect on\nhouse value. As a conclusion, speeding up the change to update the heating systems to\nmore energy efficient and environmentally friendly systems, it could be emphasized more\nas a value adding long-term investment, instead of a plain direct cost, to activate the house\nowners to change or update the heating systems of their houses.", "language": "en", "element": "description", "qualifier": "abstract", "schema": "dc"}, {"key": "dc.description.abstract", "value": "Suurin osa ilmastoa l\u00e4mmitt\u00e4vist\u00e4 kasvihuonekaasup\u00e4\u00e4st\u00f6ist\u00e4 on l\u00e4ht\u00f6isin energiasta ja\nt\u00e4rke\u00e4 osa ilmastonmuutoksen torjuntaa on siirtyminen perinteisist\u00e4 fossiilisista energial\u00e4hteist\u00e4 uusiutuvaan energiaan. Suomessa on yli miljoona vakituisessa asumisk\u00e4yt\u00f6ss\u00e4 olevaa omakoti- tai paritaloa, ja pientaloasuminen on ollut perinteisesti suosittu asumismuoto Suomessa. Pitkien ja kylmien talvien takia omakotitalojen l\u00e4mmitt\u00e4minen kuluttaa suurimman osan talojen energian kokonaiskulutuksesta. Talojen l\u00e4mmitt\u00e4misest\u00e4\non tullut my\u00f6s eneneviss\u00e4 m\u00e4\u00e4rin taloudellinen kysymys kohonneiden energian hintojen\ntakia. Vuoden 2022 loppupuolella s\u00e4hk\u00f6n hinta nousi eritt\u00e4in korkeaksi aiheuttaen Suomessa energiakriisin.\nTutkimuksen tavoitteena oli kartoittaa omakotitalon omistajien suunnitelmia l\u00e4mmitysj\u00e4rjestelm\u00e4n vaihtamiseen, n\u00e4kemyksi\u00e4 l\u00e4mmitysj\u00e4rjestelm\u00e4n vaikutuksesta talon arvoon\nja selvitt\u00e4\u00e4 miten talonomistajat asennoituvat kiristyviin energiatehokkuusvaatimuksiin,\ntalon energiatehokkuudesta kertovaan lakis\u00e4\u00e4teiseen energiatodistukseen ja selvitt\u00e4\u00e4\nkuinka paljon l\u00e4mmitysj\u00e4rjestelm\u00e4n ymp\u00e4rist\u00f6yst\u00e4v\u00e4llisyys merkitsee suhteessa kustannuksiin. Tutkimuksessa k\u00e4ytettiin internet- pohjaista kysely\u00e4 vastauksien ker\u00e4\u00e4miseen.\nTutkimuksen tulokset osoittivat, ett\u00e4 merkitt\u00e4v\u00e4ll\u00e4 osalla talonomistajista oli suunnitelmia vaihtaa tai p\u00e4ivitt\u00e4\u00e4 talonsa l\u00e4mmitysj\u00e4rjestelm\u00e4\u00e4 energiatehokkaampaan j\u00e4rjestelm\u00e4\u00e4n. Kustannukset olivat t\u00e4rkein ajuri muutokselle, kun taas l\u00e4mmitysmuodon ymp\u00e4rist\u00f6yst\u00e4v\u00e4llisyytt\u00e4 ei pidetty yht\u00e4 t\u00e4rke\u00e4n\u00e4. Vaikka energiatodistusta kohtaan ilmeni paljon negatiivista asennetta talonomistajien keskuudessa, laaja yksimielisyys oli siit\u00e4, ett\u00e4\nl\u00e4mmitysj\u00e4rjestelm\u00e4ll\u00e4 on suuri vaikutus talon arvoon.
