Students\u2019 personal experiences and opinions on both physics and studying physics as a subject were collected. Ten physics major students were interviewed to gather the data during the winter and spring of 2024. Central themes in the thesis are difficulties in studying physics, how students cope with these difficulties, and how students are evaluated during their studies. Many difficulties related to physics studies were discovered, of which most impactful were those related to mathematics education, fast pace of physics education, the lack of learning support and unsuitable evaluation methods. The research showed that physics education could be improved by increasing support for students, and developing and expanding mathematical education at the Department of Physics to enhance students\u2019 ability to apply the acquired mathematical knowledge on physics courses. Evaluation should move away from heavy emphasis on exams and increase the usage of diverse evaluation methods and long-term assessment, as to better reflect work life skills of physicists. Tutkimuksen tarkoitus oli ker\u00e4t\u00e4 fysiikan opiskelijoiden henkil\u00f6kohtaisia kokemuksia ja mielipiteit\u00e4 niin fysiikan asiasis\u00e4ll\u00f6ist\u00e4 kuin my\u00f6s opiskelun arjesta. Aineisto ker\u00e4ttiin kev\u00e4ttalvella 2024, ja tutkimukseen osallistui yhteens\u00e4 kymmenen fysiikan p\u00e4\u00e4aineopiskelijaa. Tutkimuksen datankeruu suoritettiin haastatteluilla. Tutkimuksen keskeisimm\u00e4t teemat ovat fysiikan opiskelun keskeisimm\u00e4t haasteet, se miten opiskelijat menettelev\u00e4t n\u00e4iden haasteiden kanssa ja fysiikan arviointi. Tutkimuksessa onnistuttiin selvitt\u00e4m\u00e4\u00e4n monia opiskeluun liittyvi\u00e4 haasteita, joista keskeisi\u00e4 olivat matematiikan opetus, fysiikan opiskelun kova tahti, opiskelun tuen puutteellisuus ja fysiikan kurssien arvioinnin haasteet. Tutkimuksen perusteella opetusta voisi kehitt\u00e4\u00e4 lis\u00e4\u00e4m\u00e4ll\u00e4 kursseilla annettavaa tukea ja kehitt\u00e4m\u00e4ll\u00e4 sek\u00e4 laajentamalla matematiikan opetusta fysiikan laitoksella, jotta matematiikan kursseilla opetettua matematiikkaa osattaisiin soveltaa paremmin fysiikan k\u00e4ytt\u00f6tarkoituksiin. Arvioinnin kannalta tenttien painoarvoa tulisi v\u00e4hent\u00e4\u00e4 huomattavasti, ja monipuolisempien arviointimenetelmien sek\u00e4 pitk\u00e4aikaisen arvioinnin k\u00e4ytt\u00f6\u00e4 lis\u00e4t\u00e4, jotta arviointi heijastaisi paremmin fyysikon ty\u00f6el\u00e4m\u00e4taitoja.
