Professionals utilize social media in their expert work and people posting on social media are regarded as relevant sources of information. The change is also present in the educational setting in universities, where students use social media as a source of information. The purpose of this study is to expand the understanding of physiotherapists professional communication in social media when experienced by physiotherapy students. \n\n \n\nThe study was conducted as a qualitative interview, using phenomenological-hermeneutic approach. The data was collected by interviewing nine physiotherapy students from two different universities in autumn 2023. Each participant had studied physiotherapy for at least a year and followed physiotherapists professional communication in social media either daily or weekly. The transcript from the interviews was analysed using qualitative content analysis. \n\n \n\nAs a result of the analysis, four sets of meanings were constructed which all gave insight into the subject under study. These sets of meanings were constructed from fourteen sub-meanings. Three of the sets provide insight into the meaning of professional communication in social media for students themselves. One set focuses more on how students experience professional communication as a tool for the physiotherapist in charge of professional communication. The meaning of professional communication for the students was connected to experiences about studying and the contents and reliability of professional communication. The meaning of professional communication for the physiotherapists, as experienced by the students, was connected to mainly work-use. According to the results of this study, physiotherapy students felt like they could use physiotherapists\u2019 professional communication as a tool for their own studies and to observe the possibilities of their future profession. The contents of professional communication were also compared to teaching in universities. The professional communication related to work-use was experienced meaningful through interactions, networking, developing the field and marketing. According to the students, following professional communication in social media requires active and critical approach. \n\n \n\nThe results of this study were in line with previous studies on the subject but provide new information about Finnish physiotherapy students experiences regarding professional communication in social media. Tutkimuksen tarkoituksena oli lis\u00e4t\u00e4 ymm\u00e4rryst\u00e4 fysioterapeuttien ammatillisesta viestinn\u00e4st\u00e4 sosiaalisessa mediassa fysioterapeuttiopiskelijoiden kokemana \n\n \n\nT\u00e4m\u00e4 pro gradu -tutkielma toteutettiin laadullisena haastattelututkimuksena fenomenologishermeneuttiseen l\u00e4hestymistapaan pohjautuen. Aineisto ker\u00e4ttiin syksyll\u00e4 2023 kahdesta suomalaisesta ammattikorkeakoulusta haastattelemalla yhdeks\u00e4\u00e4 fysioterapeuttiopiskelijaa. Tutkittavat olivat opiskelleet alaa haastatteluhetkell\u00e4 v\u00e4hint\u00e4\u00e4n vuoden verran ja seurasivat fysioterapeuttien ammatillista viestint\u00e4\u00e4 sosiaalisessa mediassa p\u00e4ivitt\u00e4in tai viikoittain. Haastatteluista sanasta sanaan litteroitu aineisto analysoitiin hy\u00f6dynt\u00e4en laadullista sis\u00e4ll\u00f6nanalyysi\u00e4. \n\n \n\nAineiston analysoinnin tuloksena muodostettiin nelj\u00e4 tutkittavaa ilmi\u00f6t\u00e4 kuvaavaa merkityskokonaisuutta, joihin sis\u00e4ltyi yhteens\u00e4 nelj\u00e4toista osamerkityskokonaisuutta. Kolmessa merkityskokonaisuudessa kuvataan ammatillisen viestinn\u00e4n merkityksi\u00e4 opiskelijoille ja yhdess\u00e4 kuvataan opiskelijoiden kokemaa ammatillisen viestinn\u00e4n merkityst\u00e4 fysioterapeuteille. Ammatillisen viestinn\u00e4n merkitys opiskelijalle kytkeytyi kokemuksiin opiskelusta sek\u00e4 ammatillisen viestinn\u00e4n sis\u00e4ll\u00f6ist\u00e4 ja luotettavuudesta. Opiskelijoiden kokema ammatillisen viestinn\u00e4n merkitys fysioterapeutille kytkeytyi viestinn\u00e4n ty\u00f6k\u00e4ytt\u00f6\u00f6n. Tulosten perusteella fysioterapeuttiopiskelijat kokivat voivansa hy\u00f6dynt\u00e4\u00e4 fysioterapeuttien ammatillista viestint\u00e4\u00e4 omassa oppimisessaan, tulevan ammattinsa hahmottamisessa ja ammatillisen viestinn\u00e4n koettiin vertautuvan sis\u00e4ll\u00f6llisesti korkeakoulun opetukseen. Fysioterapeuttien ty\u00f6k\u00e4ytt\u00f6\u00f6n liittyv\u00e4 ammatillinen viestint\u00e4 koettiin merkityksellisen\u00e4 vuorovaikutuksen, verkostoitumisen, alan kehitt\u00e4misen ja markkinoinnin n\u00e4k\u00f6kulmasta. Opiskelijat kokivat ammatillisen viestinn\u00e4n seuraamisen vaativan aktiivista ja kriittist\u00e4 seuraamisotetta. \n\n \n\nTutkimuksen tulokset ovat yhtenev\u00e4isi\u00e4 aiemman sosiaalista mediaa ja terveysalaa koskevan tutkimuskirjallisuuden kanssa, mutta t\u00e4sment\u00e4v\u00e4t tutkimustietoa suomalaisten fysioterapeuttiopiskelijoiden kokemusten erityispiirteist\u00e4 koskien fysioterapeuttien ammatillista viestint\u00e4\u00e4.
