Especially, the study \nsought to determine how these skills are defined by graduating students, as well as how and \nwhy they are taught. The purpose of the study was to identify specific methods used by the \nparticipants to teach social and emotional skills during upper comprehensive school physical \neducation classes. The topic was chosen due to the topicality of these skills and the researchers' \nown interest in the subject.\nThe study was conducted as a qualitative case study by using a data-driven approach. The study \naimed to uncover other factors related to the phenomenon as well through data-driven approach.\nThe research strategy was phenomenological-hermeneutic. The research data formed of written \nessays by five students graduating from the master's level adult education program in physical \neducation. The data was collected by Webropol survey tool. Thematic analysis was used as the \nmethod of data analysis. Key concepts in the study include social and emotional skills, also \nreferred to as SEL (Social and Emotional Learning) skills. Major theories discussed in the study\ninclude Goleman's emotional intelligence and Gordon's theories of interpersonal \ncommunication.\nIt was proved in this study that various factors were associated with teaching social and \nemotional skills as a result of the study. The first factor related to teaching these skills was the \nparticipants' definitions of social and emotional skills. The second factor was the target of the \nimpact of teaching social and emotional skills. The term the target of the impact refers to the \nfactors underlying an individual's or group's psychosocial well-being. The third factor was \npedagogical solutions meaning how these skills are taught. The fourth factor was the learner \nand teacher profiles in the teaching situation. The conclusion was that teacher's role by view of\ngraduating students is to create a supportive and trusting atmosphere where the well-being of \neveryone is promoted through positive interaction and the joy of learning. The teacher enables \nthe overall growth of the student through their own personality, example, and understanding of \nteaching social and emotional skills, as well as supporting the development of self-esteem. Aiheeseen p\u00e4\u00e4dyttiin \nkyseisten taitojen ajankohtaisuuden sek\u00e4 tutkijoiden oman mielenkiinnon my\u00f6t\u00e4.\nTutkimus toteutettiin laadullisena tapaustutkimuksena aineistol\u00e4ht\u00f6isesti. \nAineistol\u00e4ht\u00f6isyydell\u00e4 tutkimuksessa haluttiin saada selville my\u00f6s muita ilmi\u00f6\u00f6n liittyvi\u00e4 \ntekij\u00f6it\u00e4. Tutkimusstrategia oli fenomenologis-hermeneuttinen. Tutkimuksen aineisto \nmuodostui viidest\u00e4 liikuntapedagogiikan aikuiskoulutuksen maisterivaiheesta valmistuvan \nopiskelijan kirjoitelmasta. Aineisto ker\u00e4ttiin Webropol-kyselyll\u00e4. Aineiston \nanalyysimenetelm\u00e4n\u00e4 k\u00e4ytettiin teemoittelua. Tutkimuksen keskeisiin k\u00e4sitteisiin kuuluvat \ntunne- ja vuorovaikutustaidot, joista k\u00e4ytet\u00e4\u00e4n my\u00f6s nimityst\u00e4 SEL-taidot. Tutkimuksen \nkeskeisi\u00e4 teorioita ovat muun muassa Golemanin tunne\u00e4ly ja Gordonin vuorovaikutusteoriat. \nTutkimuksen tuloksena ilmeni, ett\u00e4 tunne- ja vuorovaikutustaitojen opettamiseen oli yhteydess\u00e4 \nerilaisia tekij\u00f6it\u00e4. Ensimm\u00e4inen n\u00e4iden taitojen opettamiseen liittyv\u00e4 tekij\u00e4 oli tutkittavien \nm\u00e4\u00e4ritelm\u00e4t tunne- ja vuorovaikutustaidoista. Toinen tekij\u00e4 oli tunne- ja vuorovaikutustaitojen \nopetuksen vaikutuksen kohde eli yksil\u00f6n tai ryhm\u00e4n psykososiaalisen hyvinvoinnin taustalla \nolevat tekij\u00e4t. Kolmas tekij\u00e4 oli pedagogiset ratkaisut eli miten n\u00e4it\u00e4 taitoja opetetaan. Nelj\u00e4s \ntekij\u00e4 oli opetustapahtuman osapuolet eli oppija- ja opettajaprofiilit. Johtop\u00e4\u00e4t\u00f6ksen\u00e4 voidaan \ntodeta, ett\u00e4 liikunnanopettajiksi valmistuvien opiskelijoiden mukaan opettajan teht\u00e4v\u00e4n\u00e4 on \nluoda kannustava ja luottamuksellinen ilmapiiri, jossa jokaisen yksil\u00f6n hyvinvointia edistet\u00e4\u00e4n \npositiivisen vuorovaikutuksen ja oppimisen ilon avulla. Opettaja mahdollistaa oppilaan \nkokonaisvaltaisen kasvun omalla persoonallaan, esimerkill\u00e4\u00e4n ja ymm\u00e4rryksell\u00e4\u00e4n tunne- ja \nvuorovaikutustaitojen opettamisesta sek\u00e4 itsetunnon rakentumisen tukemisesta.
