Puhelinten ajatellaan olevan erityisen hy\u00f6dyllisi\u00e4 sanaston ja lausumisen oppimisessa. Sosiaalinen media voi lis\u00e4ksi motivoida kielenoppimista tarjoamalla mahdollisuuksia kommunikoida muiden kielenoppijoiden kanssa. Instagramin k\u00e4yt\u00f6st\u00e4 kielenoppimisen v\u00e4lineen\u00e4 on tehty aiempia tutkimuksia, mutta ei juurikaan Suomessa. Lis\u00e4ksi monet kokemuksiin ja mielipiteisiin liittyv\u00e4t tutkimukset ovat keskittyneet muiden alojen opiskelijoihin, eik\u00e4 niink\u00e4\u00e4n kieltenopiskelijoihin. \n\nT\u00e4m\u00e4 tutkielma k\u00e4sittelee Instagramin k\u00e4ytt\u00f6\u00e4 kielenoppimisessa. Tutkimuksen tarkoituksena oli selvitt\u00e4\u00e4 englanninopiskelijoiden kokemuksia ja n\u00e4kemyksi\u00e4 Instagramin k\u00e4ytt\u00e4misest\u00e4 englannin oppimisen v\u00e4lineen\u00e4. Tutkimus suoritettiin kertaluontoisena verkkokyselyn\u00e4, johon osallistui 29 suomea \u00e4idinkielen\u00e4\u00e4n puhuvaa englannin p\u00e4\u00e4- ja sivuaineopiskelijaa. Vastaukset analysoitiin m\u00e4\u00e4r\u00e4llisesti sek\u00e4 laadullisia sis\u00e4ll\u00f6nanalyysin menetelmi\u00e4 k\u00e4ytt\u00e4en. \n\nTulokset osoittavat, ett\u00e4 englanninopiskelijat seuraavat p\u00e4\u00e4osin englanninkielisi\u00e4 vaikuttajia tai br\u00e4ndej\u00e4 sek\u00e4 k\u00e4ytt\u00e4v\u00e4t usein englantia kommunikoidessa muiden kanssa. Noin puolet vastaajista oli sit\u00e4 mielt\u00e4, ett\u00e4 Instagram on ollut heille t\u00e4rke\u00e4 v\u00e4line englannin oppimisessa. Suurimmalla osalla vastaajista oli positiivisia n\u00e4kemyksi\u00e4 Instagramista englannin oppimisen v\u00e4lineen\u00e4, vaikka moni ajatteli alustan tuottavan vaikeuksia uusille kielenoppijoille. Mahdollisiksi haittapuoliksi esitettiin alustalla esiintyv\u00e4 informaali kielenk\u00e4ytt\u00f6, jonka vuoksi kielenoppijat saattavat oppia lauserakenteita ja sanamuotoja v\u00e4\u00e4rin. \n\nTutkimuksen tuloksista on hy\u00f6ty\u00e4 esimerkiksi kielenoppijoille, jotka haluavat kehitt\u00e4\u00e4 kielitaitoaan informaaleissa ja luonnollisissa ymp\u00e4rist\u00f6iss\u00e4.
