Vanhemmat ovat luomassa ymp\u00e4rist\u00f6\u00e4, jossa nuori kasvaa ja heid\u00e4n \r\nmerkityksens\u00e4 nuoren el\u00e4m\u00e4\u00e4n on suuri. T\u00e4ss\u00e4 pro gradu -tutkielmassa selvitettiin, miten \r\nvanhempien luoma ymp\u00e4rist\u00f6 ilmenee ja on yhteydess\u00e4 nuoren fyysiseen aktiivisuuteen ja \r\nliikuntaan. Huomioon otettiin sukupuolien v\u00e4liset erot fyysist\u00e4 aktiivisuutta tarkastellessa. \r\nLis\u00e4ksi selvitettiin kasvuymp\u00e4rist\u00f6n yhteytt\u00e4 urheiluseuraharrastamiseen. \r\nTutkimus toteutettiin kvantitatiivisin menetelmin ja se perustuu kyselyaineistoon (n=5333), \r\njoka on ker\u00e4tty syksyll\u00e4 2020 lasten ja nuorten liikuntak\u00e4ytt\u00e4ytymisen LIITU-tutkimusta \r\nvarten. Aineisto koostuu toisen asteen opiskelijoista. Aineiston analysointi toteutettiin SPSS\r\nohjelmiston avulla k\u00e4ytt\u00e4en ristiintaulukointia, sek\u00e4 yksisuuntaista varianssianalyysi\u00e4. \r\nTilastollisen merkitsevyyden selvitt\u00e4miseen k\u00e4ytettiin \u03c72-testi\u00e4. Vanhempien luomaan \r\nkasvuymp\u00e4rist\u00f6\u00f6n sis\u00e4llytettiin erilaiset sosioekonomiset ja sosiaaliset tuen muodot. \r\nSosioekonomisen tuen muodoissa huomioitiin taloudellinen tuki, asumismuoto, sek\u00e4 \r\nvanhempien koulutustausta. Sosiaalisen tuen muodoiksi m\u00e4\u00e4ritettiin emotionaalinen tuki, \r\nmotivoiva ja informoiva tuki, sek\u00e4 v\u00e4lineellinen ja ehdollinen tuki. \r\nTutkimuksen keskeisimpin\u00e4 tuloksina voidaan n\u00e4hd\u00e4 vanhempien luomalla ymp\u00e4rist\u00f6ll\u00e4 olevan \r\nmonenlaista yhteytt\u00e4 nuoren fyysiseen aktiivisuuteen. Hyv\u00e4ss\u00e4 sosioekonomisessa asemassa \r\nolevien (n=3723, liikkui noin viiten\u00e4 p\u00e4iv\u00e4n\u00e4 viikossa), sek\u00e4 korkeakoulutettujen (n=2888, \r\nliikkui noin viiten\u00e4 p\u00e4iv\u00e4n\u00e4 viikossa) vanhempien nuoret ovat liikunnallisempia, kuin heikossa \r\nsosioekonomisessa asemassa (n=245, liikkui noin nelj\u00e4n\u00e4 p\u00e4iv\u00e4n\u00e4 viikossa) sek\u00e4 matalamman \r\nkoulutuksen (n=2244, liikkui hieman alle viiten\u00e4 p\u00e4iv\u00e4n\u00e4 viikossa) k\u00e4yneiden vanhempien \r\nnuoret. Keskiarvollisesti nuoret liikkuivat noin kuutena p\u00e4iv\u00e4n\u00e4 viikossa, jos tuen muotoja \r\nsaatiin hyvin usein. Vastaavasti jos tuen muotoja ei saatu ollenkaan, nuoret liikkuivat \r\nkeskiarvollisesti noin 4,5 p\u00e4iv\u00e4n\u00e4 viikossa. \r\nSukupuolien v\u00e4lisi\u00e4 eroja fyysisess\u00e4 aktiivisuudessa esiintyi erityisesti paljon liikkuvissa. \r\nMiehist\u00e4 (17 %) suurempi osa liikkui seitsem\u00e4n\u00e4 p\u00e4iv\u00e4n\u00e4 viikossa, kun heit\u00e4 verrataan naisiin, \r\n(10,4 %) ja muunsukupuolisiin (5,0 %). Valitettavasti muunsukupuolisten osuus aineistossa on \r\nhyvin pieni, jolloin luotettavaa tietoa heid\u00e4n liikuntak\u00e4ytt\u00e4ytymisest\u00e4\u00e4n on haastavaa saada. \r\nMuunsukupuolisten toisen asteen opiskelijoiden fyysisen aktiivisuuden ja kasvuymp\u00e4rist\u00f6n \r\ntutkiminen onkin yksi jatkotutkimusehdotus. \r\nYleisesti saatetaan ajatella, ett\u00e4 vanhempien merkitys nuoren fyysiseen aktiivisuuteen v\u00e4henee \r\nlapsuusi\u00e4n j\u00e4lkeen. Tutkimuksemme osoitti, ett\u00e4 vanhemmilla on iso rooli ja yhteys nuoren \r\nliikkumiseen ja urheiluseuraharrastamiseen. Tulosten mukaan mit\u00e4 enemm\u00e4n vanhemmat \r\ntukivat fyysist\u00e4 aktiivisuutta, sit\u00e4 paremmin nuoren fyysisen aktiivisuuden suositukset \r\nt\u00e4yttyiv\u00e4t. T\u00e4st\u00e4 syyst\u00e4 vanhempien tulisi monipuolisesti tukea nuoren liikkumista.", "language": "fi", "element": "description", "qualifier": "abstract", "schema": "dc"}, {"key": "dc.description.abstract", "value": "Physical activity is an important factor in the overall well-being of upper secondary students. \r\nParents are creating the environment in which adolescents grow up and thus their impact on the \r\nlife of the adolescents is important. This master\u2019s thesis focuses on finding how the environment \r\ncreated by parents appears and is connected to young people\u2019s physical activity and exercise. \r\nAdditionally, the thesis considers the gender differences in physical activity. Furthermore, the \r\nconnection between the growing environment and sport club participation was also studied. \r\nThe research was conducted with quantitative methods and was based on a questionnaire data \r\n(n=5333) collected in the autumn of 2020 for the LIITU research. The data consists of upper \r\nsecondary students. Moreover, the data was analyzed with cross tabulation and one-way \r\nANOVA using SPSS software. Chi-squared test was used to retrieve the statistical significance. \r\nThe environment created by parents was specified into socioeconomic and social forms of \r\nsupport. Socioeconomic forms considered in this thesis were financial support, housing type, \r\nand the educational background of the parents, whereas social forms were emotional support, \r\nmotivational and informative support, and instrumental and conditional support. \r\nThe main finding of the study was that the environment created by parents has numerous links \r\nto the physical activity of adolescents. Upper secondary students from well-off (n=3723, \r\nexercised on an average of five days in a week), highly educated (n=2888, exercised on an \r\naverage of five days in a week), parents are more physically active than upper secondary \r\nstudents from low socioeconomic status (n=245, exercised on an average of four days in a week) \r\nand lower educated parents (n=2244, exercised on an average of five days in a week). On \r\naverage, adolescents were active six days a week if they received parental support very \r\nfrequently. Similarly, if no forms of support were provided at all, adolescents were physically \r\nactive on average 4.5 days per week. \r\nGender differences in physical activity were particularly pronounced in those who exercised \r\nmost often. Upper secondary aged men were physically more active than women or nonbinary \r\nstudents. However, the nonbinary students\u2019 data was rather small and thus it is difficult to \r\nproduce reliable information about their physical activity behavior. Therefore, a study about \r\nthe nonbinary upper secondary students\u2019 growing environments and exercise activity would be \r\nimportant to conduct in future studies. \r\nIt is generally thought that the role of parents in the physical activity decreases after childhood. \r\nOur research showed that parents play a big role and are linked to their adolescents' physical \r\nactivity and sports participation. According to the results of the study, the more parents \r\nsupported physical activity, the more likely the adolescents met the recommendations for \r\nphysical activity.
